Companies offering 4 on 4 off for Class 2 in North West

So my former employer messed around and lost a lucrative contract with a major supermarket, running rigids to convenience stores. Great job but unfortunately run like a circus. 4 on 4 off £6-900 per week (4 days wages one month, 3 days the next).

I am now looking for a new job but if at all avoidable, would prefer to stick to the 4 on 4 off shift. So does anyone know which companies run this pattern? The money isn’t as important as the shift, as I have 3 young kids at home that I have become rather fond of spending time with. People seem to think I am mad for not jumping straight back into the first £11 an hour job I found, doing any 5/6 days.

I’ve signed up with agencies, some of which seem to take offence to the idea of just doing 4 days and claim they haven’t got anything, which may well be true at this time of the year.

I’m based in Burnley so the closer the better.

My last agency job was mon- wed , previous agency job was mon - thurs , I just told them what I wanted to do , the only concession I gave was changing the wed to thurs , but I told them straight I wasn’t working W/ends / extra shifts / b/h or tramping
The 5/6 is nothing to do with companies / agency , it’s the idiot drivers who’ve turned what was o/t into part of the working week
I’m sure those same idiots will be along calling every man & his dog for all the woes in lorry driving whilst working 5/6 , b/h etc themselves !!

Culina have 4 on 4 off in Midlands but that’s on class 1 so ring your Burnley branch and ask

Efs is another company that seems flexible but poor paying they will have clas 2

Gonna make some calls this week to agencies I see what they have. I’ve done this before, worked nights and told them I am only doing 4. They sulk a bit but are generally good.

An added bonus is if the money is right, you can work smart and earn more than some doing 70 hour weeks.

EFS is round the corner from me and I’ve no intention of working there. I got an application form from them last year and after reading through it it’s simply not worth it. I’m sure they treat drivers well but that doesn’t pay the bills or feed my kids.

It’s like that around here. The local firms basically pay £10 an hour when you break it down, from EFS, F&W, Joda, Matthew Kibble and so on.

P and h went years ago didnt they? if you mean palmer and harvey that is.

Do you work there? Or have you previously?

If so, would you mind sending me a PM with some details. Basically who to contact, what the job is (general haulage, multidrop etc?) and the sort of money on offer. I’d very much appreciate itbut of you prefer not, that’s fine.

Thanks.

I`ve sent you a DM

Just to update, through the power of Trucknet, particularly Stanley above, I now have what seems to be a nice little number.

I think some of you might even consider it part time :sunglasses:

Also just to say, I made a similar post on a couple of HGV related Facebook groups and got very different response. One desperately sad individual took great offence at me wanting to do 4 on 4 off.

Anyway, the forum has once again, served me well so thanks!
