have no problems with this whatsoever - I cycle where I want in a sensible manner - keeps me fit.

And fish free

It looks like a club organised ride and the cycle lane doesn’t look big enough to accommodate them all plus oncoming bikes/pedestrians.
At least club riders get a shift on and don’t bumble about.
My only gripe with them is when they ride 2/3 abreast.

Can’t agree with you there. Lack of kit, carp bikes and t-shirts that probably say “X to Y for Z-concern” suggest that this is an ill-organised office charity ride. They should be on the path, no question; there’s room to pass and they’ll only be going slow.

I cannot understand why cyclists put themselves at more risk than necessary like this. I shout at them when I’m on my bike. The speed differential alone is enough (20/70 mph).

There was a 55 year old cyclist (unknown at time of posting) killed on the A61 Sheepbridge by pass last week by a Citroen C3 driver. This is a dual carriageway with national speed limit which links Sheffield to Chesterfield. It is in my opinion NOT suitable for cyclists and there is an alternative route for them.

I don’t think cyclists should be allowed on dual carriageways which are national speed limit they really aren’t suitable. The draught from a lorry at 50mph to a cyclist at 20 mph is not good!

I was delivering in Regents park Wednesday ,it’s 20 mph ,I do 20 mph ,iam undertaken and overtaken at the same time by cyclists constantly ,I stopped to remove the cones ect to reverse on to Macclesfield bridge which is a road closure ,it’s difficult to reverse in as cyclists and motorcyclist are riding on the pavement over the bridge ,the police came once but did nothing .these cyclist really like having their pie and eating it .

Slap em with a fish

Stuck behind these clowns for ages on Friday… One of em was waving to the cyclists behind to keep out in the middle of the road…

Wet fish ■■? …yeah, great idea

Nothing a good blast of the horn didn’t solve.

And what does that achieve? They probably spent more time on the go than you did on that removal job.

Touche.

They might’ve been dodging those collapsed storm covers.

Equal entitlement to use the carriageways with no mandatory training, insurance or hi-vis. I really can see both viewpoints, but cyclists are not getting included in the general h&s tsunami that is sweeping the rest of us off our feet. Why? Also, why is it their widespread belief that they are largely exempt from the rules of the highway code? If they showed (or rather, were MADE to show) some commitment and accountability regarding these issues, I would accordingly give them more respect. Without these basic rules in place, I just see them as whinging pillocks. Why should anyone presume the right to use the road networks anytime or anywhere they please, in any manner they please, when they have contributed nothing towards these very expensive to create and maintain infrastuctures?

Finally, if there is a dedicated cycle path next to a busy ROAD, then [zb] well use it, or find another route. :imp:

Titanium/cobalt hat firmly chinstrapped and ready for battle!

Exactly my point.

Probably to stop the bloke taking photographs while driving from getting too close to them as it suggests he is a bit dangerous. Just sayin’ :stuck_out_tongue:

I follow the rules of the road while riding* and I have insurance including Public Liability to ÂŁ10,000,000 which comes with my British Triathlon membership and race licence.

I am more likely to have an accident and injure others or myself on the cycle path than the road. The cycle path is usually populated by people, people walking dogs and families with kids out for a leisurely ride. If I have an accident on the road it’s probably only going to be me injured or killed, not some kid.

*That won’t apply next Sunday when I’m going out for a 100 mile ride starting in East London, going through Central London, out into Surrey before looping back into London and finishing near Buckingham Palace. I will be ignoring all speed limits, red traffic lights, stop signs and not slowing down for junctions or roundabouts. But It’s okay as the roads are closed to traffic for the entire 100 miles.
