Coming out of retirement....... the CPC?

Ok chaps, I came out of the haulage industry a few years ago and took early retirement. But due to a change in my situation looks like I’ll be back on the road :open_mouth:

At present my Class 1 and Driver Card are up to date so ok there. What I don’t have is a CPC, from my understanding I need 5 modules to make up the 35 hours. I’ve done a search here and looked at various trainers sites who all seem to do more than 5 modules.

So if anyone (Rog?) can point me in the right direction that would be great, thanks.

Tiger.

The training providers may have more than five modules available, but that doesn’t mean you have to take more than five - just select the one’s you want.

There was a company advertising 5 full days in one hit, residential for about £200 all in, somewhere in wales iirc, but can’t remember who it was - something recovery maybe? Somebody might remember…

You can do the same one 5 times, nobody gives a hoot.

Lots of councils here do cycle awareness days for truckers that count for 7 hours, they are free and they even supply you with a sarnie and all the coffee/tea you want.

Alternatively you can do an ADR, that counts for 21 if you feel so inclined.

Just find 5 courses that are cheap, do first aid 5 times if you want.

Found it - www.recoverytech.co.UK

Newbury and Colwyn £199 for 5 days - based on 3 people sharing a room - 1 single and 1 double in each room, first come first served! Think I’d be there at least a week before the course started to make sure I got the single!

Nice one, thanks. Though I might forego the accommodation since I tend to ■■■■ a lot during my sleep (so I’ve been told).

If you check out the JAUPT site there are hundreds of 7 hour ‘modules’ but you only need 5 and that can be the same one 5 times if you so wish especially if you find a really cheap one :bulb:

As you have never had a DQC then you do have the option of doing the initial module tests, 2 theory & 4 practical, but I would not choose that option

The fact that two middle-aged men who are complete strangers are expected to share a double bed shows you how highly truck drivers are regarded in the scheme of things. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Rog, I would like to keep things as straightforward as possible, I agree modules 2 and 4 may not be to any great advantage in my situation

Very true - might suit dipperdave though
