I was in my car being driven to work by one of my brothers yesterday when we came in to Waltham chase Hampshire and there was a small queue ahead then I saw a car at a funny angle on the road as we got closer on the left hand side on the road was a 125 scooter and some one lying on the floor and my heart sank when I saw the white helmet it was my oldest brother 50years old (he’d left 5mins before us )
Turned out the (WOMAN! )car driver just pulled out from left turning (road has good view of main road for 1/4mile) right and my brother had no chance to react
He’s now in Southampton general with broken wrist 6 broken ribs and damaged vertebrae but it could have been so worse
Scooter is a write off as whole front is twisted
So guys take time to look for motorbikes
Always do look out for motorcycle’s, riding bikes myself since age of 12 years, now 50 Pius vat, hope your brother pulls through OK,seems most car drivers think a motorcycle rider, are third class citizens in my opinion
When they are proven to be responsible for causing potentially lethal collisions as a result of their myopic, careless actions, drivers - and cyclists - should all be subject to a rigorous and costly training program to wake them up to the fact that public roads are not a place to adopt a lackadaisical attitude. Having experienced a similar thing years back it still galls me to think that the guy got clean away with it simply by being contrite after the event.
That said, i sincerely hope that your bruv makes a full recovery in due course. Can he go after some corporate dollars, considering the multiple injuries caused to him? After all, a damaged back can easily be categorised as a life changer.
Sorry to hear that.
Hope he get well soon
