Combining/tracing old pensions

Anyone ever done it?

IIRC, someone on here did it, but I cannot remember who it was.

I opted out of SERPS when I was about 20, i’m 54 now.
I also had 2 workplace pensions.

Any advice?

There is something on .gov.uk that lets you put your details in and it searches for your previous pension providers.

Ive done it.It took me nearly a year though, not worth the hassle really

I did it with the government search however i have quite a few past jobs with dodgy umbrella companies so it was a convoluted process however in your case if you have only had 2 jobs in the last 30 years it shouldn’t be too bad.

Was discussed on previous thread here

It’s not worth the hassle to find your own money that you paid into a pension which could’ve grown by thousands by the time you retire?

So even though they did all the work for you you’d rather just be poorer in retirement because it took them some time to find them?

I had a “opt out of Serps” frozen pension in 1992 there was £3.7k lying in it as moved job which provided “public sector” pension so no more money could be invested.
Checked in 2009 and had grown to £17k!!!
Transferred it into a new SIPP pension back then.

What I meant was,I transferred a pension from one provider to another, but got no benefit. My pensions still the same as 3 years ago, they havent increased in value
