Collett Abnormal load on the A12

Hi, does anyone know what the hold up was today for the Colletts convoy? It was parked up for a few hours with police and pilot vehicle. Who pays the bill for the police in those situations, must have been costing someone a lot of money.

first post :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: movement order maybe

My third post!!!
If you had seen the angle of the wheels on the rear steer module on the leading wagon, you’d understand why they were parked on the slip road.
Some wheels were on the way to the shop, whilst others were already coming back with the change!!!

hydraulic pipe bust at a guess

Was it turbine blades destined for Bradwell? They are busy taking down keep left bollards and roundabout signs in Danbury so they can get them through.

They did a dry run a week or so back with an empty trombone trailer stretched out with a ladder sticking out the back.

Wasn’t blades, but could well have been sections of the upright.

Would have been then I reckon, as I came home they were putting the signs back and a Collett wag & drag was heading that way. Going to be a lot of loads going that way. 12 turbines = 36 blades + mast sections, nacelles etc.

Mast! That’s the word- not upright!
Did wonder why there were so many marked plod on such a short stretch of the 12 earlier!

Need to have a whip round and get Moomooland down there getting some photies, he done a good job when they were going up on Scout Moor.

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago at Markham moor truckstop. The motor housing and ■■■■■■ vehicle were parked on the other side of the trailer, you can just about see them underneath.

Cheers spooky70, didn’t see the wheels on the rear dolly. Would be interested to know how much the rozzers charged for that ■■■■■■. A lot of the wide and abnormal loads i see only have a pilot car, i think were three police bikes with this one.

they ship these out of their yard in goole, and look pretty busy with it. i was driving past their yard today in the car and two motorcycle outriders came shooting out of the bypass from the docks to block traffic, followed by a Volvo traffic car, then one of Colletts MANs with a trombone trailer and a blade came shooting out. quite an operation

There is some long long loads going into Great Blakenham, nr Ipswich, latley, theyre building a waste station or incinerator or something.

And a pair of bloody great turbines that have appeared behind Roy Humphrey’s

If I’m escorting a wide load and need the police they usually charge around £300 - £500 but it will only ever be a traffic cop on overtime.
