Collecting Trailer for Mag on SATURDY in Widnes

After thinking about it (& that thought being re-inforced by Jammy), I spoke to Neil (seller) & asked if we could go Sat morning

So … the plan changes, still the same route but leaving about 6am Sat morning to arrive in Widnes fro 9:30 - 10am.

Might even get old Jammy man to supply the coffee at Newark on the way home - if we get time to run via it on the way home

Leaving at 1-2pm Friday for a trip to Widnes to collect my pea green trailer

Keep your eyes open you lot, will be going across country to call in near Derby on the way.

March - Peterborough - Oakham - Melton - A6 / A50 across to stoke then M6 M56 Hope to arrive in Widnes around 6-7pm Then turn & run home via the hillies for supper

See if we can go there & back without being spotted

Unlikely methinks, solo magnum going up & a pea green trailer on the way back, gotta be close to flourescent :unamused: :unamused:

Ohh those colours are sooo gonna clash lovey… :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL… your gonna look a picture too, coz you know your not gonna stop smiling all the way home…

Toy i know me and you dont drive trucks any more but are you in need of a good phsychiatrist? time and day? i hope your taking your sleeping bag with you `cos you aint coming back until Saturday morning!!.

If you get to Newark and you fancy a good cup of strong coffee to keep you awake after all that queueing in traffic jams let me know.

P.M. me for a mobile number if you can pop in.

Denis

I did wonder if i chose my time well
In theory … if i can roll along the A roads & get there for 6pm, then hookup, & find somewhere to eat (maybe not the hollies  ) it might calm down a bit

The only other option is to leave later & collect it really late if the guy is ok with that (seems very easy going). Dunno, will give it some more thought

as for Newark … if we get too fed up & decide to test the beds, then that is an option some tim Sat morning (i got a friend in Chesterfield so might even pop in to see them on the way).

Thanks for reminding me it’s rush hour and THAT day … i was trying to sweep that one under the carpet

To those that took an interst, i thought it would be common courtesey to post the results of today (apologies to those of you who are fed up with my exploits  )

Left 6:15am, decided to go A14 / M6 / M56, arrived in the yard at Widnes around 10:20 9after a couple of coffe breaks  )

The trailer was advertised as - ready to roll, tested August.

Before the guy got there, I had a poke around & the test disc on the fron showed expiry of Feb 04 :frowning: Overall condition was OK, nothing more or less (which at that price is fine). Guy arrives & I mention the test, he says sort of “oops, time goes quickly”. He did apologise & was a decent bloke. BUT … I left it there :frowning: it looked to me as if it had been standing in the yard since it passed it’s last test & all sorts of ideas came to mind (bottled out basically). Last words were, he’s gonna test it next week :open_mouth: then meet me half way if i want it.
I think in reality, when he puts a years test on it and runs it 100 miles down the road, he’s gonna ask for more money & on principle i will not pay more now.

So … as it stands, were still trailer-less. Truck did fine though, didn’t miss a beat there or back.

Sorry to hear that toy :frowning: was looking forward to the next edition to the makeover hmmmmmmmm we have changing rooms so why not
Changing vehicles or such like lol :stuck_out_tongue: and glad to hear the truck ran fine  @ leats some good came of it you know that it will go that far well

Glad to hear the truck went OK Toyt, shame about the trailer but I’m sure you will find another. So did you enjoy doing that spot of distance driving…■■

How did the engine sound…do you think you made a good purchase, of the Magnum I mean.

Post some more photos, jeez…lol

Teah was a bit of a shame that i came home without it :frowning:

No problems with the truck though, ran like a dream all the way there & back, no oil used, water dropped a bit but we did the anti freeze fri pm so i guess that was airlocks. Starter is a bit lazy when hot, but again a minor detail.

Speed limiter works a treat  All motorway except for a few miles, 55mph :smiling_imp: without even the fun of changing gear on the hills :frowning:

didn’t check exactly but think it worked out at around 10mpg solo, so seems about right.

Going again Saturday to look at some more trlrs, hope i get one this time
