I had to deliver to the Village Deli, Station Road in Codsall this morning; Coming off the A449 (following the road signs) you hit a weight limit (7.5t) but there’s an advisory route sign for lorries. I turned left and followed it down, to be met with a sign saying “weak bridge 7.5t except authorised vehicles”. I assumed because I was delivering (and following the lorry route signage) I was authorised? Went over the bridge and to the drop, avoiding umpteen weight limits on all the other roads (but not breaking one myself) and got to the drop, and came back out again without breaking any weight limits.
So, was I “authorised” to cross the weak bridge or not?
As far as I know yes you are allowed over it used to do codsall when I was with brakes, not a lot you can do about weight limits in codsall.
Used to do the pubs and you got to get where you got to get.
Jeff.
Is Codsall a posh place? Seems a bit of a ginger beer place with all those pointless weight limits. How can a bridge be weak except to authorised vehicles? It’s either weak or it isn’t.
Codsalls not posh just the people think it is bit like Hyacinth Bouquet lol and the limits everywhere is a nimby thing keep those nasty trucks out, would soon moan if the bins weren’t done.
As for the bridge I know its a joke what makes being “authorised” any lighter?.
I doubt you would have been an “Authorised Vehicle”… That’s typically Police, Fire, Busses etc.
Except for access is fine if you are delivering inside the weight limit… Just don’t forget your crystal ball to see where the boundaries of the limit actually is.
