So, I got in a bit of bother last night, the usual story, NO bloody parking anywhere.
On my way back out of Cobham services I seen a spot under the bridge, I knew it would be noisy but needs must.
I parked up around 10.30 pm and had a little work to do on the laptop for 2 hours.
Most but not all trucks under the bridge were foreign, Thats why I thought it strange that almost every uk truck that passed STOOD on their horns, thought maybe they knew some of their mates !!!.
So here is the problem,
Are most uk driver that f**king stupid or even resist that they take pleasure in waking up fellow lorry drivers just for fun.
This went on for a few hours and started again about 4am. As I write this (still under the bridge) it is still happening.
I pull a fridge with pharmaceuticals and normally try to park with other fridges so not to wake drivers and cant understand the mentality of drivers doing this sort of s**t.
Here’s the kicker and you can check this,
80% of all consumer and food based products sold in the uk come from outside the uk.
So all the Wa*kers that were blowing their horns should have a think about it when they are sitting watching their 50" tv’s from China and eating steaks produced in Ireland. AND maybe when they sit in the hospital with Cancer getting drugs that are produced in Poland or Hungary. Would you refuse tablets produced in other countries, I think not.
Gat a f**king life lads and keep your horns under control.
to be honest its pathetic that other drivers would do this at any time, unless you are parked somewhere dangerous or you are trying to warn about attempted theft etc.
Their load is no more important than anyone else’s load so it does not give them the right to park badly or illegally . Although I can’t see where you parked will be a prob but I can see why people get the hump when they park on the hard shoulder. On a side note have you seen the mess under the bridges on the M25 bags of rubbish and bottles of pee every where . And no I don’t sound my horn

Yeh I can also see why they get the hump, it’s because they are self righteous, self appointed traffic marshalls, or busybodies who can not mind their own ■■■■■■ business.
Whether illegal or not, wtf has it to do with these tossers, and as said previous, what kind of arse hole would wake up another DRIVER deliberately, irrespective of nationality,… just to make a point.
If it bothers the tossers that do this so much, then hand in your HGV licence, and join the ■■■■ Police !!
.
Keep your beaks out, live and let live, get on with your own job and leave others to do theirs, whether you approve or not.
I’ve been at Cobham twice this week, Tuesday night someone dropped a trailer so hard that it woke me and the guy in the truck next to me up. Last night there was a lot of horns going on. If you want a spot then you have to be there before 5 ideally. I normally get there between 3 and 4 so you get all the people finishing up their breaks so you get a good choice of spots. By 17:30 I’ve got my curtains closed and I’m asleep by 6.

My next door neighbours have a little one that must be teething or something because its almost constantly crying so its properly the only time I get decent sleep. Add to the fact I start at stupid o’clock anyway, doing a few drops in London which means I’m done mid afternoon. I have a Premium, can’t do much in that cab other than sleep!

Just trying to point him in the direction of a happier existence in the world of trucking.

Each to his own bud, but can not be arsed with just working and sleeping.
I like to park somewhere decent and get out. I avoid MSA s like crabs (after saying that in one tonight due to hold up in rta.
…first time since 80s
)
Jobs crap enough without unwinding.
You should try it sometime bud, .makes job more enjoyable and less like an endurance test.
I avoid MSA’s that aren’t Extra services because they accept SNAP parking. I use Cobham a lot because its close to Kingston, Croydon and Ealing where we doing a lot of store deliveries, plus there aren’t a lot of places you can stay that is relatively safe. Company want us to use MSA’s or truckstops as the stuff we carry is insured then.
Reading these horror stories is another reason why I went back on the vans. I can park anywhere I like now. ( Within reason.)
Last time I was at cobham there was an empty bay at the side of me and someone had done the biggest ertha kitt covered by a single sheet of toilet paper,I know toilets aren’t that close but it doesn’t warrant squatting under your trailer and then leaving it

Maybe it was his way of giving a revue of his thoughts of his stay. The parking charge, the distance to the toilet, the quality of the food…A new take, and more visual practical approach to ‘‘Trip advisor’’

Know what you’re saying mate, ■■■■ disgusting, throwing US in a bad light, and feeding the ‘Anti trucker’ crew.
As for crap food, I was forced to park at Frankley M5 due to 15 being up stuck in a RTA friday night.
Paid my 23quid
went to spend my voucher, the restaurant was shut, and all that was available was a ■■■■ Burger King
…Burger ■■■■ King ffs.
Call me old fashioned but a B. King and a ■■■■ Coke aint my idea of an evening meal after a 15 hour shift.
Back to the cab and put a home made Sheperds pie in the microwave instead…and a bottle of Becks.
I never usually overnight in these ■■■■ holes, but surely the ‘S’ in MSA is a clue to what they SHOULD provide on a 24/7 basis, not at the time it suits them.
I wish now I had left the same ‘revue’ as your mate.

Surely its always insured and the insurance company merely encourage parking in those sorts of places to reduce the risk of a payout? After all, drivers hours regulations and severe under capacity of suitable truck parking must mean its not always possible to park in those sorts of places even if you want to.

According to the office so this could be grade A bullshine but the customer has specified that “secure” parking is to be used whenever possible. We have a self-employed driver who always nights out but he ran out of time near Donncaster so he parked up in a layby only to find in the morning that someone had slashed a huge hole in the curtain and took nearly everything. This caused a lot of grief for the office folk so thats why they say to use MSA’s or truckstops whenever possible. Its a simple box ticking exercise for the pencil pushers. I’d rather park in a MSA over a layby that being said I’ve had my curtains slashed a few times when in MSA’s.
Found myself driving into Cobham MSA after a gap of a few months not doing so…
After nearly driving into the car park, not realizing that the slip road layout has completely altered since my last visit at first - I was pleasantly surprised to be directed to the “overflow” HGV park on my second pass, where I ended up parking nose-first where the coaches used to disgorge their passengers - that bit right next to the washing machines…
Mind you, it usually IS possible to park there on sundays.
I don’t bother even trying mid-week these days, hence why the gap between my last visit and this time.

There are loos in both the Shell station and the service building. No excuse for peeing, let alone ■■■■■■■■, in the truck park.
