I work out of Gloucester with an 11 plate DAF, and according to my sat nav it goes 56/57, so assuming this is accurate then that would be why we don’t come by you. There is 2 things that I see, firstly I’m pretty sure that a lot of trucks seem to be set below 56, even if the speedo is saying 56 as I seem to go by a lot of trucks pretty easily. Secondly we are encouraged to only go at 52 to help achieve the fuel bonus, and have a more relaxed drive, so like in many places you get drivers that adhere to this, and you get those that want to run flat out all the time, each to their own I say.
As for Downton’s in general, there will always be people that like / dislike a company no matter what, at present it works well for me, but I’ve been around the block enough to know that can change in an instance for various reasons, but the one thing I will say is having worked briefly for a company where I was concerned every time I saw VOSA, I certainly don’t have that concern with these.

At least where I am now they are straightforward and approachable.
I have just finished at downtowns trust me don’t go their pushed to the limit running out of time on a bay advised to tip and when out of hours told to do a print out an d mark it down as valuable load park u up early after only 8hrs duty then expect you to get up at stupid o clock in the morning all for 8 50 ph don’t offend office staff will make your life hell but prepared to run back sat even if you want to Finnish on a fri don’t bother with a doctors or dentist appointment you won’t make it drivers who moan are put onto load speaker so all office can hear and take the ■■■■ come a weekend any one can use or spotless pride and joy it don’t come back like that grease bottles off ■■■■ all downtowns can employ his polish Slovaks newbies your just a bum on a seat
£400 for four days maxed out sounds pretty grim to me.

Yes I agree, my depot was pretty good with doctors appt etc but I know others were not.
What makes me laugh is all the “we do every thing to the book” and are “perfect” preached by them but then things get swept under the carpet to get a job done.
If I’d of stayed there I’d propably be divorced because I was a miserable sod at home and in jail for gbh against someone because 90% of the staff were complete d ick heads

Pre post my previous comments yes I have had issues with certain planners not the planners which set my work today I voiced my concerns to top managment ie directors they knew nothing off the issues of certain planners and where very sorry to hear this as they highly valued me as a member of staff I was assurred certain planners would be talked to although I have had problems with certain planners the work the maintence and wages which where always spot on iam in a way sorry to leave downtowns due to a few vindictive planners but wish all at cmd a happy further
