Another thread fell on deaf ears.
Northampton castle was mostly knocked down when the train station was built, this was the area where the true northampton people lived and raised. now they are enlarging the station and have found some buried parts of the castle wall, which was built in the 11 centuary, and Thomas Becket was imprisoned in the castle, until he went to Canterbury where he was killed, this was after the King said will no one get rid of that odious man!
It was the thought of you kissing Harry that caused people to avoid the thread Norm.
Didnât know you were into religious history Norm.Dangerous old job in those days jumping from one gang and joining another, but I suppose being the Archbishop of Canterbury,he â â â â â â on his chips by doing that.
Cheers Dave.

Do not like her she was legal beagle for the brewery up near Warrington, so they could get rid of workers the cheapest way they could or accept a contract at a lot less wage. I donât like leeches or bloodsuckers. Also I have been very wary of people in charge ac these words " We are in this together" to those who donât understand!
It means they are going to get richer,
and you are going to get shafted and a lot poorer!

Hiya,
The wealth these people have accumulated via the public â â â â â (from where else)â â
is obscene they should be fully investigated there must be wrongdoing somewhere I
donât mind someone becoming wealthy by hard work she alone has made a fortune
with the human rights rubbish and for the pair of them and numerous hangers-on
Europe has become a huge cash cow, thereâs something wrong somwhere.

Members of Parliment make clucking noises and give us chicken feed,
while they live it up,
and leave us with egg on our face. How stupid do the conservatives think the pensioners are
They say they will leave us alone until the next election, when they are elected, they will stop bus passes, winter fuel allowance, and free TV licences, yet reduce their rich pals tax from 50% to 40%, who have the cheek to postpone their bonuses until it comes in force in April,
so they pay 10% less tax on it. If pensioners do the right thing, the CONS should not get in for a hundred years.
I donât think it will make a scrap of difference who gets in at the next election Norm.At the end of the day they are all in it for themselves.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Donât bother too much with politics being an OAP I have to lie back and
take whatâs thrown at me, I havenât a care in the world whoâs in or out
but listening to a lot of talk about our current âleadersâ described as a
load of J Arthur Rankers and the worst shower ever to be in power lots
of the people I hear are going to go down the road of voting UKIP lets
face it they canât make a bigger mess than the last two or so lots whoâs
â â â â -ups have just about seen the country skint, but no matter who is
next to come aboard they are sure to make it a gravy train but only for
their own benefit, over the years succesive governments have sold off
or given away many revenue raisers, theyâve lost big earners like duty
from tobacco and booze, the only âraisersâ now is income tax and most
of all the professional driver and private motorist are being ârobbedâ a

I am of the same opinion as you Harry.Whoever gets in will just carry on promising the earth and blaming the previous government for the mess we are in.I will probably go down the UKIP line.Have voted for a Lib/Dem this way the last few years, simply because he is the only MP in my lifetime to hold surgeries in our village and he does follow things up.I vote for the man and not the party in his case.
Cheers Dave.
I donât tell anyone what way to vote, but of all the parties, you have to consider who dose the best job for the working people. Conservatives, who and what do they support The rich, it has shown that this term, before their candidates came from rich families, mill owners, mine owners, ship owners, shopkeepers. Now what good things have they done
Gave us Winston Churchill during the war, who was not too popular among his party members, thats why he was popular with the working class. the other thing was Margret Thatcher that loverly women who ruined the coal industry, killed off a big portion of the miners by increasing the police pay and overtime, but now the police are on the recieving end of this party,
what a shame. Oh and she gave the chance of buying your council house, which only affected a portion of the people and over 50% lost them because they couldânt afford them. and they was never replaced so a shortage of accommadation. They stitch up the railways, our power suppliers, now they want to privatise our roads, if they had their way they would try to sell off the old pensioners care and ship them out to India where its cheaper to care for. Labour brought in the health service, and if you was from a family who brothers and sisters died from not being able to afford the medicine to cure them, you might take a bit more time and research in how you cast a vote. No party is perfect, you have to pick one that will do itâs best for all of the people, not just the rich or you! Labour have got the pensioners most of what they have got, even got pensions linked to wages, which the tories change as soon as they got back in. Why will the Conservatives never change, because they have never had to live like we have had to, we are something they would like to wipe off their shoes, and would rather help a rich mate than a working class or the poor people. So never tell me they are all the same, none have been like the tories.
I donât really want to get into politics in this site or thread Norm.I have never voted Tory and never will.I am working class,as were my parents and Grandparents before them. My Grandfather worked on a private estate as a forester and when Labour won the landslide election just after WW2 the squire who owned this estate sacked most of the workforce in temper, because of the election result. That is one of the reasons why I will never vote for the Tories.
Soapbox parked.
Cheers Dave.
Agree wi dave 100%âŚyou have to been brought up in a tied cottage wi upperclass owners to know where you stand !.
could nt understand why my grandparents were so happy to get a council house and get away from the big house , i understood once i saw what /how some o them treated the workers .
was once reported to the big boss ( not my depot boss)my council days) for not taking my hat off/and my attitude when talking to the lady of the manor ,she stoped me to tell me to stop digging oflets and go away as the hunt was going to pass by soon.
aye i had a chip on both shoulders in my younger days and hated everyone equally.
jimmy.
Hi Jimmy,
Strangely enough my Grandad wasnât one of the people sacked by this tyrant of a squire, but he quit and told him he wasnât working for a man like him anymore. As it happened the forestry commission were just starting up after the war and my Grandad and my three Uncles all got jobs on that earning much more money.Strangely this Colonel/squire didnât turn my Grandad out of his cottage, much to the relief of my Grandmother.
I was told if in this village where Iâve always lived as a young boy by a retired Major for not calling him sir.Bloody Hooray Henrys.
Cheers Dave.

Beg to differ Dave, if the tories get in ,
they will definately screw us old ones, at least the labour will get some money out of the rich, which Cameron and his cronies get all their cash from wonât touch them.

As I said Norm, there is no way I would vote for a Tory, but I havenât much faith in any of these modern hot air merchants. All promise and then no action. The old MPâs cared about the people they represented, but these lot are only interested in their own careers and lining their own pockets.

I would not fight or argue about politicâs, but to not to discuss it is a foolish thing,
that is how Hitler got into power, being the ones who shouted loudest and bully boys.
People should treat a vote as a bar of gold or a wad of notes,
you wouldnât get many throwing or wasting it then.
If people checked correctly what the parties in power did for the poor and other classes, and how well off you was in that period, as well as how many promises was kept or not. but no they live in a cocoon and never bother,
that is until it affects them, and oh boy then they start squealing. Myself I think the period the last goverment was in control was good for a large portion of the population, and they never left the country in a mess, it was the World depession that drag us into it, and quite a few of europe who are a lot worst off! My grading of the parties. "Labour not perfect but the best of a poor bunch, Tony Blair was a watered down tory, never voted for him as a leader, if Smith had lived, he would have never got in.
What can you say about the Liberals Dem, they have poor judgement, and go in agreement with a arrogant party.
They made that mistake in the 30âs trying to seek peace with Germany, not to be trusted.
Ukip I am afraid of their aims, and bend their views to get elected, Germany keeps popping into my mind.
I put them as a danger to the working class. Conservatives I put in the class of no hopes, they will lie and cheat for the rich but show contempt and arrogant to anyone beneath them, one Mp said you know the poor they are all fat, Mr portilla lost his seat for his comments about single mums, now doing train journeys for BBC2, they are so pompous, I rather cut my hand off, than put a cross for them!
alleluia
hiya,
If we had a few more Dennis Skinnerâs âthe beast of Bolsoverâ, politics
might just be better he is for the working man and letâs them know it.
