hiya,
Not saying where but the leads will be attached to the missus.

Liquid cement, easy start and jump leads? I think it’s time to get this thread back on track or I will be having nightmares of what’s in store for me. The Golden Fleece at Rulehome on the A689 between Carlisle and Brampton was a regular stop for Geordies in the 70s. The owner was an ex driver and the hospitality was magic!!! he never knew pubs had a closing time. I once asked him if he ever worried about being raided for after hours drinking, his reply was ask the guy your sitting beside if he’s bothered , cos he’s the local bobby!!! Like most good things it came to an end as the neighbours of the pub finally lost patience with all the noise and general nuisance. Looking back who could blame them? but it was good while it lasted. regards kevmac47.
Com’on Harry and Dave I have done all that flower lark, even got a dozen red roses for my wife’s birthday but gave them to her on valentines day, so she did not know if I was being romantic or saving buying two lots of flowers!
I am still feeling faint, they cost £30.
Went to have my eye’s tested so I get refered to the hospital, my left eye has a defect in it, I told them, and they gave me a card with lines and little squares and checked both eye’s, right one I said the lines are straight, left one I sand the lines are bent and wavering, she said which part of the large square, I replied all of it, every where I view it is not straight, she said I will refer you, if it gets worst, don’y wait for the appointment to come through, go straight to the eye department, I said can I not follow the curves I see. It is no laughing matter she said with a big grin on her face, I said goodbye, then said eye eye my beauty and swiftly departed.

hiya,
Thirty quid for flowers Norm i have’nt spent that much on my missus in thirty years, if i bought anything more than a bar of fruit and nut she’d think i was guilty of something and put me on silent meals.
thanks harry long retired.

Valentines day was February 14th Norm, not May 14Th,but if you left it that long I suppose £30 worth of flowers, would be needed to get you back in good books.
Sounds as it you have, what is known as eye stray
.
Cheers Dave
Forgive me if these have been mentioned but 44 pages are just a few too many to trawl through whilst SWMBO is waiting to go out.
The Busmans Club in Grays in the early 70’s very handy for those working out of Tilbury, not so much a rave but always made very welcome.
The Red Lion in Aldgate East just up the road from Tower Bridge in the days when Gardeners Corner was a truck park at night and a car park during the day. Two ‘dancers’ every night.
Chelmsford The three horseshoes or cups can’t remember the name of the pub but just up the road from the lorry park. Friday night was Country & Western night. Males were literally dragged through into the club room
Juniper Berry Southampton. Already mentioned but two pub games played there. Spot the Lady and Find the Ball.
Newark. Thursday night was ladies night, enter the town at your peril.
St Neots opposite the fire staion. Was in there one night when a couple of drivers were getting on well with some ladies, buying them drinks all night and no doubt hoping for Breakfast. Then at 10:15 their husbands finished fire drill and popped across the road to collect them
Last but not least the Night Owl in Oostende when Shelly ruled the roost, Base to EV’s and John Raymonds. Drink all night and a full English at 4.30. If anyone knows a Malcom ask him about the night he told the Arab he didn’t think the gun was real
I don’t do nights out now, just nights
But in my last years or so of doing them I was amazed at how many drivers would pull into a truckstop, and get their cooker and TV out. The pull their curtains and that was the last you’d see of them
I’ve always though Lorry driving was like Rugby Tours; you put up with the uncomfortable stuff; I.E. 9 hours behind the wheel or 80 minutes on the field just to enjoy the camaraderie of the social gathering afterwards
