Norman Ingram:
Harry I have done nothing to shout about this last weekend, got a few bob back, but was down in total, last year I was well in front, this year I have not got going, the weather is been making it hard to choose, for going has been so heavy, lots of times my horses have been doing well, then near the winning post fade away totally exhausted due to their hooves digging in to the ground too deep. Then like us Harry we have not got the staminia we used to have!
hiya,
Norman am thinking of changing my tactics going to carry on using the pin sticker selection method but going to give Saturdays a miss and do my âinvestingâ on a Friday not so many people in the shop that day so there might be a few winners left for me, thereâs no flies on me, donât know why i didânt think of it before i might have made a million by now.

Norman Ingram:
Yes Bill5 will do that, Harry I believe you will pack up backing horses at the same time you give up drinking whisky, also I believe in fairyâs.
hiya,
Norm iâll have you know iâve given up the whiskey, what time is it â â , haveânt had a drink for 22 minutes, the wifes out shopping sheâll get a thick ear if she brings a new bottle from the supermarket after iâve ordered her not to, .
thanks harry long retired.
Harry if I had never met you, and know what a decent chap you are! I would say you are a lying tow rag, I know your wife keeps hiding the bottles of whisky, but you have a nose like a bloodhound, and sniff them out from wherever she hides them, then you are trying to play the âSaintâ. By the way did you see the handbag lady on the news, she comes from the area in Northampton where I was born, salt of the earth.

hiya,
Yes Norm watched the âold bridâ with the handbag, a darned sight braver than me but i would have dashed over after theyâd gone to see if theyâd dropped anything on the pavement you never know i might have found a couple of sovereigns to stake at Ladbrokes, as for the booze Norm my âold ladyâ doesânt need to hide it away she knows i only drink in moderation thats only during my waking hours, although i am contemplating setting up a drip for when iâm asleep.

hiya,
Now then Dennis donât tell me that anything iâve ever written/posted has made sense if it has iâm slipping iâd hate to be normal.
thanks harry long retired.
I think you are right about Harry being a smooth operator Dennis, where he learnt it, I do not know! But he must have been good, he got wed three times, and me only once, I used to think I did not do too bad, but I could not have been in his league. Just one thing, what have they done to the trucknet again, miss a day or two, and I did not know it, it rocked me for a while.

hiya,
Norm being a thrice wed whiskey swilling nugget doesânt make for being a smooth operator believe me, iâm thinking more on the lines of being an idiot, but at least i did get it right at the third attempt, i was always a bit slow on the uptake but to gain perfection youâve got to make mistakes along the way, but i went one better i made huge â â â â -ups, but as the old saying goes no-one is perfect.

This is one for âHâ and Norm, our one and only Lady/female driver, night trunk from Dunstable to Irlam and Radcliffe.her name just escapes me at the moment but someone will come on and tell us shortly! her partner drove for us on nights as-well.I gave her a start against 100% traffic office resistance, she was a decent driver but reversing was the weak spot.Never had to get involved with tipping and loading or roping and sheeting, just changing trailers.IIRC the second Scania she was on we named âLUTON TOWNâ and the day man was a âdyed in the woolâ Arsenal supporter and he hated it,got the â â â â taken out of him something rotten!!!Heres âLUTON TOWNâ at a truck show at Carnforth Truckhaven! Donât know where the driver is though!
Norman Ingram:
Dennis I do not think at my age, I could manage the units, the other part of the equation, I would endevour to do my best, or died trying.
hiya,
Wouldânt even try now Norm, i donât do failure very well, couldânt climb in the cab and i think the ladies would be an even bigger obstacle i think i could just about lift a large glass of Scotch now in fact ta ta iâm going to pour myself one right nowâŚ

I beg your pardon Dennis, just had another look, the one featured in the magazine was restored in the colours of T Brady,so it wasnât one of the two that you worked with. This one was originally a Shell-Mex tanker.
Cheers Dave.
