Dave with your bike in the snow, I thought you would have fixed a ski on your front forks, and spikes on your back wheel,   , but you was only a young lad,   myself, from about seven I made wonderful weird comtraptions such as trollies out of pram wheels, sledges, catapults, just to mention a few.

Hi Norm,
Wouldnโ€™t have fixed anything on my bike,as it was my pride and joy,had it when I was 13 with a derailier and dynamo and looked after it,it was the first as new bike that I had,it was a โ– โ– โ– โ– โ– โ–  back from a dealer in Hereford and in very good condition.Had all sorts of contraptions before, but as soon as I was 16 onto something with two wheels and an engine.
Had catupults and shotguns, also an air pistol which Ive still got,you would do more damage with it by throwing it than pointing and firing  .
Cheers Dave.

Dave talking to you has jogged my memory to when I was a young lad, and I made a flat bottom boat out of thin copper sheet, the base was the shape of a bullet but flat, two strips fixed from the pointed end, and a oblong piece on the end with two holes drilled in it, I would solder it together. then small guage copper tubeing which I would coil several times in the middle, and have two long straight lengths, that would fit in the two holes and soldered, it would float in the bath, the pipe would almost touch the water, then a metal cap from a sauce bottle with meths in also you could use cotton wool , set light to it, and after couple of minutes it would glide across the length of the bath, edge its way around the bottom of the bath and chug to the other end, until the fuel ran out, and it cooled down.My brother who was in the navy during the war, said kid you should make a full size one and we can use it to fish on the river, I said Fred I have no more copper.

Hi Norm,
I live too far from the sea or a big river,so never contemplated building a boat.Spent most of my spare time with my dad on a lorry or helping or probably hindering the blokes on the local farms.Being brought up in a very rural area there was always something going on,in those days we had four working farms in this village, with about ten blokes working on them as well as the farmers themselves.A very different way of life to the modern intensive farming thats here now.
Cheers Dave.

Dave, I look back on my life with fondness, yes my father died when I was eight, but it made me grow up quicker, I realised how hard my mother had to work to keep my baby brother & me. Soon as I was able to work at 14, I gave most of my wages to my mother and kept 5 shillings to my self, due to my brother taking me into a Billiard & snooker club, I became a decent player and was able to make it in to pounds. I chopped my right hand in half after we had our second child, it was hard but I never let it get me down, I managed to work and earn good money and bring my family up and have the chance to do the middle east, survived a crash, so someone thinks I am not too bad.    yes my life i have enjoyed including the pain & heartaches.    Norman.

Had a few knocks and setbacks myself Norm, but the way I look at it,nobody said it would be easy.As it says on my signature " keep on breathing it helps " but thats been bloody hard work lately. But not to worry,we will keep cutting.
Cheers Dave.

Yes Dave you have to, I know of some of your problems, I myself survived double pneumonia at two years old, rheumatic fever at ten, among all the other things you could catch in them times, new doctors when they read my file, ask me if I had all these complaints, I smile and say " YES", they say but your heart is OK ? Yes that is because I did what I want to do, not what the doctors told me to do, as time goeโ€™s bye, they always change their opinions.    So my saying must be " Its my life and I do what I want to do " :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Whatโ€™s up is the network closing down for Crimbo or summat and i wonโ€™t be able to wish everybody the seasons greetings nearer the time, well just in case that should happen iโ€™ll do it now.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL,
and if any of you should find yourselves very wealthy as a result of winning the lottery just remember the poor old former colleague up in wildest Durham who can only bet on three legged horses and as result is penniless.
