Clique drivers.

What is your take on their exclusive members only private club who get the best runs, earn more, get the newest truck and it takes four years to play in their gang as Gary Glitter had a hit song with do you want to play in my gang.
Every firm has the blue eyed boys that can do no wrong. And some the tacho rules do not apply to suit their private plans of getting home on a friday night.

The blue eyed boys who get the best of everything, are usually the drivers who will not refuse a night out at ten minutes notice, will work saturday morning if needed, and never go mouthing off to the traffic planners through the little window in the wall. They have long memories in the office. Its a case of you scratch my back and ill scratch yours.

Ps…I am not a blue eyed boy myself, done night trunking for years, so i get whatever truck is available etc…, it is just a theory i have always had on the matter.

I disagree with that as I do all that, I’m very flexible and I’m always ahead of what they have planned for me and I’m one of the last back and first out but I don’t get all the good work.
I find at our place its those who shout and moan get looked after and always home early Friday
They give all the crap to the ones who won’t moan and just get on and do it

Fair comment.I have seen that too.The transport planners who are ■■■■ scared of drivers gobbing it all the time, so for a quiet life they give in to the bullying driver and then drivers like yourself are taken advantage of.So yeah its 50/50 on why certain drivers get the best of jobs etc…

As a former TM/planner I can assure you that what comes round goes round. The trick is to do it so’s they don’t notice… till it’s too late.

Conversely there are too many drivers who spend so much time worrying about what everyone else is doing that it makes them miserable depressed and thoroughly annoying due to their constant whining and persecution complex.

I go to work, do my job to the best of my ability and go home afterwards, i couldn’t tell you what anyone else is doing cos i’m not in the least bothered.

Yes good point, we have some drivers who seem more pre occupied in where you’re going, what time you finished yesterday, personally myself i’m NFI in what Joe Bloggs is doing.

They always want to know where you are going. And think they are managment by telling you what to do.

Good way to preserve your own sanity. If you can master that then please let me know how because I try but don’t always succeed.

This is the one that works for me.

I’m hourly paid, and if I’m stitched up on a Friday especially, I make sure that they pay for it, somehow. that little job ends up taking longer than anyone realised, and involves running in Saturday!

The best way to do this is to try and avoid the whiners as much as possible, their depressive can’t do attitude is infectious and will spread like a pox in a company, they’re probably miserable and unwelcome at home as well, its just how they are.

I’ve worked with many over the years, if they got a grand a week to lie in bed they’d still find summat to winge about.

Management should nip people like this in the bud but good hands on or finger on the pulse management is rare, misery guts’ are no use to man or beast and can destroy a good working environment in time which will ruin a transport company sure as eggs is eggs.

As for sanity, i went gaga years ago…

As long as I’m getting more hours than anyone else I’m not bothered what they do

Baldbloke. Its my new phone and fat fingers and the cursor moves ariund messing up what i write.
