Clipper - Wynyard

Does anyone on here work for clipper darlo? Any information when the new wynyard site will be opening and if they will be taking on more drivers etc? Cheers

I work for Clipper in the warehouse at Selby mate, I can find out for you on the 21st of this month when I go back if you like?? I know their firm is mainly if not all Iveco, and they pull for all the major retailers e.g tesco, morrisons, debanhams and all the other lot. The pay for the warehouse staff isn’t bad and as I am on apprenticeship I’m on a lot more than most my age on a similar job would be getting. (£900 a month before tax  )

If you do get set on, they’ll have you on their reward scheme where you get discounts on more or less everything. Cheap cinema tickets, money off of your opticians bills for specs etc. They’ll try get you onto their health plan where you pay I think it’s about £2 a week/month (Can’t remember which) and when you miss days off work you can claim money for it. As I’ve got a hospital appointment on the 18th of this month I get £50 for it, even though i’m not working (It will be explained more in greater detail no doubt) The pay scale at Selby (I assume its the same in all parts of clipper) is you get paid ipto the 25th of each month that lands on a Friday like last month my payday was on the 23rd as this month it lands on the 20th.

The firm in general are a good lot to work for, they want you to work hard but they reward you for it too so it’s swings and roundabouts however you look at it. Any problems I’ve had they’ve helped me anyway they can and like anywhere you work there are some ■■■■■ in the office which I’ve learnt to take with a pinch of salt and let it go in one ear and out the other. I’ve only been there a few months now as many people on here have said I wouldn’t have lasted that long and well I’m still enjoying it thus far. I know they’re taking on for 2 full time warehouse staff at the selby branch on the tesco contract on the other shift to me. In my opinion I’d recommend the company to anyone if they need a good paid and fairly easy job by the look of it.

But like I said I’ll ask on the 21st about it or better still when HR are back in the office and see if they can give any info if they’re taking any drivers on in Wynard and send the relevant info via PM.

Cheers

Spot on cheers mate, ino they are moving from Darlington to wynyard round September time but just wonders if they would be asking for more drivers, sound good to work for like be better weekly pay but never mind lol

Not a problem mate, Regarding the managers at Wynyard I couldn’t tell you about them to be honest but if they’re anything like the manager on the contract I work on if they’re in a bad mood and have ago just let it go in one ear and out the other. And just be extremely polite and you’ll find it either winds them up or shuts them up something I learned to do instead of biting back although my manager was suddenly nice to me after I told HR how he spoke to me and how I didn’t appreciate how I was spoken to when I had to go to my 4 weekly review. So I’m assuming they had a word with him :sunglasses:

And the pay isn’t a problem when you get used to it, although having that much money in the bank account at one time can be a bit tempting at first. It was with me that’s for sure   But I’ll have a word when I go back, and i’ll pass on the information as soon as I get told

Cheers

I wonder what this means for George depot at Washington.

Interesting to see that they are doing the George work for Asda, that Elite used to do before they had to close the Bramley processing centre at Leeds a couple of years ago.

Probably an undercut job.

Asda’s place at Washington was just the DC for George in the North. All the processing was done externally.

Ken.

Cheers, the George depot at Washington is huge , yet nothing ever seems to move, every time i pass it it looks like a storage yard for Scania .
