Clipper logistics

Clipper logistics being bought by GXO logistics for £940 million.
Who said there’s no money in haulage.

Good for shareholders too as the offer is 49% above the share price when they tabled the bid from The Times article.

XPO and GXO recently split into separate companies for the sole reason of increasing “Shareholder value”. Great if you are a shareholder, no difference (except another new uniform if GXO) for employees.

Anyone can buy shares, Ive got a tickle coming as I backed Clipper when they floated @ £1.00, through to £4.33, purely on the basis of being impressed with their business model, they seem very employee focused, Im not sure how the yanks will progress the business though, as you need someone like Steve Parkin to drive the business, and not some Ex Harvard type [IMO]…

I worked with Steve Parkin in the 70s at a local soft drink place he was a driver there

Which shows the shareholder prospectus is the biggest pile of marketting b/s ever written.

We have one of their original warehouses round the corner amd its known as even worse than Sports Direct for iffy employment practices. All agency got dumped after 12 weeks guaranteed to save getting better conditions, people were regularly dropped for taking too many toilet breaks which was an arbitrary number based on how much your supervisor liked you and generally it was the “absolute last resort job filler” company.

So really they’ll do well under XPO or GXO.

Thats the way of the world if you are on Agency unfortunately, been there / done that / moved on.....taking the P1$$ ?, not sure how one counts this, but if the supervisor thinks it is too many, their lies the problem, dont annoy the person with the clout…Sports Direct ?..one of the best tips in the UK @ Shirebrook if you are on time, no messing & a good atmosphere when I`ve been in there [we used to bring “Nike” in from Belguim…

They’ll need that 49% premium - to cover April’s 49% increase in dual fuel bills! :frowning:
