I think their is a difference between being clever and having qualifications, I know some really clever people who left school without a single qualifications and some with loads of qualifications that you think shouldn’t be let out on their own.
I did work with a lad who had a degree in Geography, good lad and good driver, his father ran his own trucks and this lad got the truck bug at an early age, so nothing was going to stop him driving one, until he found out he hated doing haulage work.
I agree, remember there is a difference between education and intelligence.
Define clever, intelligence and any other key words which are closely related to these words.
Qualifications are not really much of a guide because school is more of a social experiment and anything beyond school (further education) is going to be pursued through choice which suggests the student has an interest in those subjects although the end grades would be an indication of their cognitive abilities along with their interests but would they contribute to a persons intelligence scale? Not necessarily!
General knowledge seems to be widely used to determine how intelligent a person is but my previous point could easily disprove this theory for example. I could not tell whether a painting was created by Vincent van Gogh or Leonardo di caprio because I simply have zero interest in art and therefore would be unable to say whether the painter was an artist or an actor. Does this suggest a lack of intelligence on my part or merely a lack of interest in the subject given in my example?
I start full time college on Monday studying social science which will give me access to a psychology course

A huge difference. I have come across some with a good education who are practical. I also have come across people with zero education who can’t change a light bulb or engage in personal relationships with anyone, friends, work mates. So it’s not always the other way round.
To me intelligence includes things like outlook, how you communicate and conduct yourself with others, not if you can show knowledge on topics, solve problems or overhaul an engine or carve wood.

Whose the cleverest trucker you know? There’s a guy on our place that has a degree in chemistry, and I know a dentist that does multi drop shop deliveries on a Saturday because he finds it relaxing!
One of our regular agency drivers is an ex commercial airline pilot who worked from East Midlands Airport!
Cleverest trucker I met was a guy called Les, guy was a walking calculator. Could throw him a sum in the middle of a conversation with out a thought, the answer from his mouth(i’m not talking things like 68 or 78, i’m talking things like 2pi divied by square root of 16, ■■■■ you would have to look up before hand), and then continue the conversation like nothing had happened. Just had a thing for numbers I guess, top bloke tho.

Whose the cleverest/most intelligent trucker you know? !
Well,I am,of course !!
I’ve got a C&G heavy vehicle apprenticeship,HGV1,DCPC,CPC and am a psuedo accountant too ! Oh and I am an erstwhile stock market trader !
I know something…I’m far more intelligent than a lot of these so called ‘managers’…can run rings round most of 'em !
I was explaining the traded options market to another driver, last week (he did ask) and he rang his girlfriend and imparted what I’d said…she came back with ‘sounds like ■■■■■■■■’…can’t help some people,eh ■■
I know that I’m intelligent, because I’ll try something new, just to prove that I can master it,then quickly get bored with it and move onto something else. (Not blowing my own horn, you understand…)…been like that since my school days.
