Whose the cleverest trucker you know? There’s a guy on our place that has a degree in chemistry, and I know a dentist that does multi drop shop deliveries on a Saturday because he finds it relaxing!
Most of the ones i have met are right frecin know it all"s.

I think their is a difference between being clever and having qualifications, I know some really clever people who left school without a single qualifications and some with loads of qualifications that you think shouldn’t be let out on their own.
I did work with a lad who had a degree in Geography, good lad and good driver, his father ran his own trucks and this lad got the truck bug at an early age, so nothing was going to stop him driving one, until he found out he hated doing haulage work.

Knew a guy years ago spoke read and could write 13 languages fluently, he could read say a French newspaper and translate it into German Spanish etc without thinking about the same with writing give him directions in Russian and he’d write them down in what ever. he was amazing.
He was self taught by tapes and picking up papers from places he was in but he did say was wherever he was he would try to talk in the language of that country.

When I started doing continental work in the 1980s I met a fair few schoolteachers who used to drive trucks in the six-week Summer school holidays, partly for the money but mostly for the thrill of doing a long European journey.
I also once knew somebody who gave up teaching as a professor at Oxford University to be a minicab controller.

We have a guy on our place who used to teach in a high school,jacked in after 5 years of teaching and is now driving hgvs…only thing he misses is the holidays!

could the topic be what effect has socialism coupled with the underlying effect of capitalisn has had on zero hours contracts since 1963 and that should keep conor out of harms way at the same time? 3 birds,1 stone,job done.

Ah! breast stroke, the reason I’m no longer allowed in our local swimming pool.
I’m sure there are some on here with BSc’s, and others with real degrees!
