Clearstone HGV Training

Anyone trained with this company and what are they like.
Thanks
Mark

:imp:

well i think that must be the shortest most concise reply ever seen on trucknet

I haven’t trained with them, but contacted them when I was looking into it - HARD SELL and extortionate. They also farm out the training to local companies (who I guess have to give Clearstone a lower rate than an individual would get from them).

Better to find a decent local company either from the forum or heading down to your local test centre and see who gets the results…

shop around mark
if i remember rightly when i priced them up they
were a lot more expensive than most :imp: :imp:
i would recomend apex in bradford
very reasonable and one to one training

Thanks for the replys.

The reason i asked is because my mate is thinking of taking is hgv and this company sent him this.

I trained with them and wouldnt ever again.

They say they gaurantee you a job at the end of it. Believe me they dont. Your just lucky if there happens to be one in your area.

They are expensive and just farm you off to a training school which you find you could of gone to direct for almost half the cost.

They are just an office taking your money off you and then getting others to do the work for them.

But on the good side.

They are friendly, Fairly helpful and there fastrack course held by the RHA is brilliant.

But I dont want to complain about them to much. At the end of the day they got me my licence and thats what matters.

Well if you passed you wouldnt need to train with them again

BTW ‘you’ got ‘yourself’ your licence, ‘you’ did all the work and dont forget that!

When I did my class 2 last year I was training with another guy on the same vehicle for the same hours with the same instructor. I paid £840 direct to traing school, he paid £1100 for the same thing. My advice is to ask around for recomendations and prices.
Cheers

very expensive, and the staff are not very experienced and just seem to be interested in your money! they also say they can find you work in your area…i’ve heard nothing from them since passing my test in November, since then i have found two jobs by myself in my area. still yet to do the fast track course with them.

once bitten twice shy…and all that

good luck with the training mate

I am doing my back to back course with them now. Passed class 2 just before Xmas and am waiting for a re-test on the class 1 (16 minors -Grrrrrr).

Clearstone? I have paid almost twice what the guy I trained with paid by going straight to the school I am with ( Newcroft, Nr Upminster). Knowing what I know now I would have steered well clear. They do offer a job at the end of the course, but spending a couple of weeks with truckers and visiting their haunts during my training, you get to here of plenty of oportunities.

I enquired about training with them as the finance option was appealing…
well after being totally confussed by them on the phone for at least 30mins  they wouldn’t approve me for the finance, prob just aswell as the price kept going up and up for some reason…
