Cleaning your hi vis jacket

Use cellulose thinners but don’t smoke whilst cleaning :grimacing:

I used to put turpentine on the grease marks, scrub it on the draining board, then wash in hot soapy water in the sink. Hang it on the line wet then you don’t need to iron it. Didn’t put it in the washer because I didn’t want all my other clothes smelling of turps. You can buy them from the Pound shop, ok for me because I am quite small, but I don’t think they do big sizes.

Why turn it inside out? It’s the outside I need clean!

Done that - but it got a bit cold!
That is my current wife hiding behind, not me!

dave55, because the white reflective strip loses its hi vis quality. therefore it becomes none hi vis.

Oh - ok. I have found these hi vis coats are getting cheaper in price and quality. Holes in the pockets and torn lininig after just a couple of months - along with the insipid colour they go after a few washes.

Can’t believe I’m moaning about a coat on a truck forum

The maximum times you should wash you hi-viz is 10 times in the wash…then get a new one :open_mouth:
