Cleaning alloys

What do you use other than elbow grease on alloys that look like they’ve never been cleaned in there life

Ali from Autosmart first

then, depending on how bad they are, depends on what next

IF they’re really bad they might be beyond getting a mirror shine back on unless you’ve got a week spare, i tried on my previous motor which no bugger had given two hoots about :unamused: , really hard to do anything much with them other than alloy acid.

One lad i know uses simple brillo pads on his alloy trailer wheels, but only by going round them in full circumference sweeps, do not criss cross or rub in small circles (as you would if polishing) or it will look pants, TBH they look pretty ■■■■ good, gives the effect of brushed aluminium that could pass for being laser cut, he can do all 6 in an hour without too much bother…might be worth experimenting on the worse one of yours, it might be an option.

I have always found oven cleaner to do a good job with dirty alloys.
