Class c+e training advice

Peter Smythe:
It’s clear you’re being trained to do the exercise using this mark and that mark. Which is fine once you have the basics of reversing. But seems to me that these have been skipped over which is so often the case and can sometimes lead to hard work in the long run.

Pete

100% agree with that which is why I never taught trainees to use any bits on the combination for the training or test

All but one got to test reverse standard within 2 hours on the practice area so I wonder why some trainers are using such markers

Peter Smythe:
I favour learning to reverse in a straight line, then making gentle turns. The exercise is then a breeze.

Agree 100% with this. That was how they started in my training school straight reverse down the track once mastered, onto the exercise itself. Amazing the difficulties some trainees had just going in a straight line.

Thank you all for your help and advice ive read over them a few times so I have another go on monday so will report back after the session I think in my head its starting to click now ive had a chat with you guys and a break away from training. Hopefully it will all come together for next Wednesday…
Thanks again for the help its much appreciated. .
Probably have a whole new problem for you monday evening :grimacing:

Well thank the lord for that… ive mastered the reverse well got the hang of it anyway. …
7 out of ten in one shot hopefully I can hold it for Wednesday. .
Any last minute tips well just starting to brick it now :open_mouth:

Well done! 7 out of 10 is about where I was at that point in training too. Don’t be scared to take a shunt if you need one on test day though. Take your time with it too, there is no penalty for time taken on the reverse test or drop and catch.
Only other tip is try to relax for test, all the examiner wants is a smooth drive with good observations and consideration for other road users. Hang in there, sounds like you are doing great!

Thanks.
Got one more lesson tomorrow before the big day.
Plan is to get some horrible turns and roundabouts also some stop sighns and arch bridges to cover round sheffield…
Cant wait for test day first thing Wednesday morning in Sheffield city centre beautiful
