Class C + E sponsorship!

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum so this is my first post. I’ve been looking into training for a C + E licence for a while now and have been on numerous websites re training.

As you will all know training is so expensive and then after passing you have to look for a hgv job. Rather than taking a loan to pay for training does anybody know of any haulage companies that offer sponsorship?

By sponsorship I sort of mean like bus companies where they employ you as a trainee and train you up for your licence and then obvisoully once you have passed your employed with them? I’ve been searching around Newcastle upon tyne and surrounding areas without any success so any advice and help would be great!!

Very much doubt it, sorry but thats the hard truth, newly qualified drivers are having a hard time find work as it is, getting a company to pay could be a struggle, get your cat c and get in with a good company and they may train you for c+e if your very lucky.

^^^^^^ this sorry but the best thing to do is save dont take out a loan as there is no guarantee of work once you have passed unless you are in the know

There are a lot of drivers looking experienced & new

It depends where you are though for training I would suggest that you look at some go visit them have an assessment to see how you feel BUT do avoid BROKERS as they will promise you the earth but can take a while to deliver & it will cost more in long run

A read of this may help

Sponsorship simply does not exist anymore.

If you are going to do your training, find. But at this time of year there is a 999999999.9999% chance you won’t get work.

Judging by the 1990 in your name, that’s your age. Stick with something else till your 23. Insurance will kick you left right and centre trying to find work.

Sorry to be so blunt but it’s the god honest truth.

This is the problem with this industry there are some company’s that will train you but they are not very easy to find
Stobarts do but you have to be based in the Wigan area and the money is really bad wile you are training
This is the big difference between bus and haulage company’s

I started of a drivers mate paided for my class 2 and i paid my c+e myself all for only a 12 month contract and lets be honest the driving straight away is invaluble id have done 24 months lol

Hi, read on here that if you are based in scotland or wales you can get help through the job centre…but only if you are signing on…dont think its available in england!!!

As others have said, avoid brokers like the plague… find a good local trainer…there are small steps you can take whilst saving for your practical driving course…take your theory tests etc prior to it[they are good for two years once passed]…easily arranged and you will feel you are nearing your goal!!!

Driving is now a job you choose because you want to do it…days of megabucks pay are long gone…getting a start as a new licence holder can be difficult and you need a thick skin for the knockbacks

Paying in the region of £2k to get a licence for a job that pays as low as £7 an hour doesnt make financial sense at all but a sunny day on a coastal road with everything going right can make it all seem worthwhile

Please dont believe the driver shortage drivel thats been in the papers recently…it complete tosh…the jobs you see on direct gov…90% are agencys looking for you to sign up with them, the jobs dont exist in the main…

Drive because you want to,your own boss once away from yard,no office politics, only yourself to fall out with,no factory supervisor breathing down your neck etc etc

just give it serious thoght and best of luck
