for those here that have gone from class 2 to class 1 how many lessons did you have and was it 1 to 1 or shared
It took me two days plus driving to the exam to pass “E”.
First day there was two of us, second day I was the only pupil.
Cheers
Paul
4 days of lessons, 4 hours per day…test on day 5.
4hrs weds
4hrs thurs
4hrs fri.
Test on Monday didn’t share the cab.
Thanks guys that gels with what some of the driving schools have been quoting me. just seemed a very short time considering i spent 5 days in a rigid.
5 days for a rigid as you have to be taught width, length and height C to C+e, all you have to learn is length and bendy. You know the other bits already.
I did Class 2 8hrs Saturday and 8 hrs Sunday with the test on Monday morning.
Then Class 1 5hrs Monday, 5 hrs Tuesday, 5 hrs Wednesday, 5 hrs Thursday with the test on Friday morning.
Both courses were 1 to 1
Managed to pass both first time, up at PSTT

its the bendy bit that scares me as the trailers front following edge for want of a better description sticks out on one side and the other edge wants to cut in

Headboard overhang.
Be wary of it but don’t fear it. I’m at the stage now where I can overhang a car bonnet to make a dramatic point while watching facial reactions of occupants of said car when they see the front of a trailer hooning at them before I straighten up:razz:

Yes but if you’re doing it back to back you’re not having to re-learn how to drive for the test as you’ve just done that with the CAT C, you just learn the difference in how an artic handles, corners and reverses so you can cut the training down by half a week.
I did mine on a Monday - Thursday with test on Friday. Had first couple of days, can’t remember length of 1:1 then had a guy join us as coming back for a retest and wanted extra tuition. He was someone who’d done class 2 only as a stepping stone whereas I was an established rigid driver.
He found it useful watching me as he felt I was much more confident, and I felt it useful watching him as he wasn’t trying to take a rigid line and cocking up the junctions like I was.
