upon passing class 2 test and wanting to progress to class one do i need to go through whole medical process again?

No second medical and your LGV provisional was for both class 2 & 1 (ie c + e)
So as soon as your licence is returned from having your class two being added your free to go straight into class one training
No second medical. Your first provisional was for C only. Having passed C and received your full licence, it should also carry provisional for CE.

From January 2015, DVLA will no longer issue the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence

ah, but if he trained with a certain Mansfield based trainer he might not get the licence till the new year because of needing lots of retests </tongue in cheek>
