Hey guys! Really nervous and excited at the same time about starting my Hgv 2 course mid November. Would appreciate if anyone has any tips/words of advice for me? Thanks!!
Mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors!
My instructor told me if I don’t come back with a sore neck I hadn’t used them enough haha. I was extremely nervous starting my training but it all fell easily into place.
Sadly I came in stuck on my first test so failed for being too close to parked cars and scrubbed a Kurb. Was mega ■■■■■■ off to fail but now I’m more determined for my retest. Have you opted for auto or manual?
Thanks for the response!
Haha yea I guessed Mirrors has a massive part to play more than a car. Oh no, sorry to hear that! Hopefully you will have the knowledge of what to look out for in your next one, so as not to make the same mistakes
I have opted for the automatic as my instructor says most lorries are automatic nowadays. But I’m still a bit skeptical and don’t know whether to learn in a manual albeit for a few hours at least!

I just remembered that after my Class 2 4 hours driving a day my neck was proper in pain lol
When you first start out you will be living in your mirrors but once you get given a truck and you get used to it you’ll know the size of it so you won’t need to be constantly looking at the mirrors, that being said you will still be living in your mirrors
Sometimes it feels like I’m looking more in the mirrors than I am forwards lol
I’ve opted for manual and adjusted to the box really easily. You might find it worthwhile to have an hour or 2 in a manual to acclimatise to it after. I have decided when I do c+e I will do it in an auto for balance
