Firstly, I have no idea why i’m awake at 05:05am 
I passed my HGV Class 2 last year with Peter Smythe but at the time i was in the process of moving to Tenerife to see what it’s like. I would like to come back to the UK and drive instead preferably as a Tramper but I believe this isn’t really available on rigid trucks?
Does anyone know of any company that offer a job where they train a Class 2 driver to a Class 1? I understand that Eddie Stobart used to do it, not sure about now.

I doubt most places do that because there are plenty of drivers available. Can you not pay for it yourself?
I could, but it will take a while to save €2,000 especially here where the pay in Tenerife is rubbish.

why not pop over to poland and get your class 1 out there as it must be a lot cheaper than in the uk ? we are flooded with them over here so if they can afford to get one i guess you can to out there ?

Think I’d rather stay in Tenerife and sleep on the sidewalk than come back to Blighty to go tramping in a rigid tbh. Just for the record, I don’t foresee the the paydays over here taking your breath away.

If you wanted to set yourself up in Somerset, Morrisons in Bridgwater are crying out for class 1 & 2 drivers. Class 1 is the main stores, class 2 is the ‘m’ local stores.
Pay is about £23K for 2, more for 1.
Bridgwater girls are easy and houses are cheap!! Only kidding…
It might be a good idea to read the question before answering. Just a thought.

b and m were looking for people to train up to class one last month. Don’t know if they still are. they were also advertising this last summer. May be worth getting in touch with them and keeping an eye on their website
Its rare for you to have tramping jobs in Class 2. Our place does some nights out but not on a regular basis. Unless you can get in with a local firm or something. I did tramping all over the country for a small specialist furniture place in a 7.5t with a sleeper box.
