After working abroad for the last four years (non driving). I am looking for class 1 work in the Newcastle/Souh East Northumberland area. Currently registered with a couple of agency’s but they are very hit and miss.
I’ve got DCPC and ADR in packs and tanks less 1 & 7. Apart from the time listed above worked as a class 1 driver since 1995. Previous experience on tanks, fridges, curtainsiders. Some tipper work (grain). 48 yrs old clean licence.
Would prefer (I know this is a tall order) Mon-Fri back shift or nights. But will consider anything.
You could try ELDDIS at consett, J.R. ADAMS (flatbed work) further down road you have PRESTONS OF POTTO,also worth a try is R.T.H. LUBBERS at cramlington they do a lot of oil and gas industry related transport across europe.
The stories you heard about Ramage, are just that, stories. they were prosecuted in 2000-2001 ish, but are squeaky clean these days. they have grown to quite a size, and Robin and his lads are hard but fair to work for, they pay a reasonable wage for a hard days work, as do most people, decent tackle, a multitude of shifts and hours available if memory serves me correctly, i think they’re based at Cookson’s old place around Killingworth
Thinking about Port of Tyne (although it means going through the tunnel, more cash to pay out) through another agency. Rates, kit and hours seem decent. Any comments?
No idea what they are like but Pollock- Scotrans were advertising on Monday, working out of blyth port. Ramage are now on the cobalt business park, just up from silverlink.
