if you franchise for aggregate industries then december payments probably will be put back a month again like the last couple of years
As has been said the quarry will set the rate and it will be considerably less per mile than if it was for a paying customer. Most fixed plant jobs (ie daily to concrete works etc) are cut rates but quarry to quarry is often less still.

I don’t agree
We have 4 Arctics on quarry work pretty much every day and the rates are far better than anything else we move
The guy we sub for prob has another 5 at least doing same
All for Hanson and la farge
For instance a load grain going down would pay £9-9.50 ton
But load sand coming back within 10 miles our yard pays £10.99
Hence everyone wants the quarry work and not grain etc
The beauty of quarry work is very little queuing
One our guys sat in tilbury nearly 8 hrs few weeks ago waiting to tip!
£10.99 a ton for 10 miles trip?? You got proof of that??
He doesn’t say how far he has to go for the £10.99
He only stated it was 10 miles from the yard, I know for a fact lafarge aren’t paying that for a 10 mile trip!
Nick I think the OP was asking about running material from quarry to quarry and not general quarry rates to outside customers? A vast difference in rates then I think you will find, unless things have drastically improved in recent years. Possibly still better than carting grain etc about, no knowledge of that stuff, but not as good as running to customers. Fixed plant jobs were always less as the only way the price could be made attractive to the customer was to knock the haulage rate down, quarries rarely drop the price of material, the same as large tonnage jobs to motorway construction site etc, they were usually done at a SR (special rate) which again took money off of the haulier!

No it’s not a 10 mile trip
From Chelmsford to Aylesbury
Which is closer that Aylesbury to tilbury which we would get. £9-9.50 for
We run there back empty most days and do 2 easy loads and home.
That’s from a quarry to batchin plant but it’s no diff from quarry to quarry
Each to there own but that’s what we all doing and everyone wants to be on it.
