Class 1 or Hiab

I am currently working for Bidvest doing multi drop and I love the job but don’t know how long my body is going to let me do it as I am in constant pain in my elbows and shoulders so I am looking at getting some extra training. I am undecided between class 1 or Hiab. The one problem i have with class 1 is most of the jobs I’ve seen are tramping and i want to be home every night. Which course would provide the best opportunities

If home every night is your priority, then its HIAB every time.

Not really. Ive done class 1 with agency for past two years all of it was home every evening.

Good for you. Doesn’t change the fact that if you’re on Hiab work its more likely to be him every night :unamused:

Hiab for me. I’d love to do class 1 but it’d just burn a hole in my wallet and pocket.

Just because the work entails using a lorry loader it doesn’t mean that the work will be easy or there will be no nights out. I’m now on Hiab work. It can be very physical on times and I average 2 nights out per week.

Taking a lead from f-red’s sweeping statement, I’ll join in. Class 1, and get a job on the milk. Home every night, and easy work.

Thanks for the replies guys

+1 with what the nodding donkey said. Look after number 1. Good luck.

When you say milk, do you mean collections?

Also it all depends on what you can find local. Where I am is mostly general and steel. HIAB would be a bonus for the flat/beavertail work that I really want to do. But there’s absolutely no point in doing ADR because nobody moves that sort of thing round here (except on vans).
