hugs in portadown, and laverty are looking just now.plus the mushroom brigade…away for a couple of weeks with them, and then relate it to what you have now.or just get your toe in the door somewhere decent doing uk work running legal.theres always plenty about.
Laverty in Portadown are looking every other week and small fleet so something wrong there.
McBurneys are looking men as just took the Lakeland Contract from Monty.
Told they’re paying £560/600home for out boat Sun night home Fri afternoon! !!
Always work@ Manfreight too on the long week/short week trips to mainland from Portadown or DFDS Westbank Rd in Docks.

Heard the best dayshift rates for NI are working for Premier agency on the DHL contract. Think its £9.50/10hr and time/half after 8hrs and double bubble on Sun!!! Have to be willing to cover all the DHL contracts incl the Iceland dung work.
I’ve been offered work here several times, once by DHL themselves, but due to every agency in the country advertising the job after DHL were hiring themselves, I was put off accepting it. When DHL contacted me about a year, I wasn’t really in a position to consider it, but no matter how many times I politely declined the offer, the guy kept trying to pursued me to pack in my job and give it a go - which concerned me slightly! Would be interested to know if anyone on here has any experience with DHL or any of the agencies offering the work in NI? Even when an agency contacted me a few weeks ago, I told them I might be interested, but due to upcoming commitments I wouldn’t be available from the end of April until the the end of May - I was told this wouldn’t be a problem, with a full time permanent contract on offer after 6 months. Maybe I’m wrong, but almost seemed a little desperate to get people?
the agencys want bums/mugs in seats on a day to day basis…end of story
the ones mentioned that are always looking are always looking cos their work is dung.
work with someone either running legal or bent to suit you.theres plenty of work here, you shouldnt need to be asking.
mc burnies is as good as you need whillst still running legal.
reids have opened up again. theres masses of work here.
its 11-15 just now ,i could phone several companies and be out on the 8 o clock boat tonight.just ask and youl get.
When DHL took the Iceland contract off McBurneys both they and Premier agency were DESPERATE for drivers as the Iceland work is DUNG.
DHL offered me FT on this work@ £8hr plus Fleetboard “bonus” 50p/hr,
told them to get stuffed!!! Since then hear the money has gone up due to drivers moving on after 6months of DUNG.
Know a fella doing rather well for Premier agency on a nightshift trunk number for Moypark.
Jark are also in with DHL but Premier can also use you in Asda/M&S/Musgrave alongside DHL plus they are also in Tesco now as Grafton/Jark couldn’t find enough drivers to cover all Tesco agency slots.
I’ve seen a few companies lately advertising for full time permanent drivers, then a few weeks later an agency will post a job that won’t mention any company names, but looking at the description is quite obviously the same job that was advertised by the actual company a few weeks earlier! Always makes me think the job’s ■■■■■■■ the company’s ■■■■■■■ or (if not disclosed) the money’s ■■■■■■ - therefore I’m not going to apply! Surely it can’t be that difficult to get drivers in NI? I know there’s plenty of work out there, it’s finding that handy, well paid number, with decent hours and no ■■■■■■■■■ thats the hard bit!
Northstone would be one of the companies who advertise for drivers and pay £7.30hr!!!
Then an agency comes along offering the basic same job@ £8hr,
so with “add on’s” must be charging Northstone at least £10hr.
Why can’t Northstone offer a decent tipper/mixer/Block Hiab driver the £10hr to begin with!!!
For pure dayshift decent money@ say £10hr your really only got the usual agencies doing mostly store delivery dung work unless I’m mistaken!!!
Sure Henderson Wholesale can’t get FT or agency drivers for the Spar/Vivo dung and I now see “Manson Haulage” pulling for them as subbies!!!

Grafton/Jark couldn’t find enough drivers to cover all Tesco agency slots.
Can understand why Grafton couldn’t get the drivers! When I first passed my class 2 I signed up to Grafton - The lady there couldn’t have been more helpful. Called in on the friday morning to register, had a job for monday by lunchtime! Stayed with them for 6 months to get some experience, and got work 5 days a week the whole time. So a few years later, when the employer I was with cut us all to a 3 day week as soon as the word recession was mentioned (despite not losing a single contract and upping their rates!!), I thought I’d see if Grafton had anything for the other 2 days. When I rang, I was told the lady who used to deal with drivers had left, so they put me through to the current lady. What a ■■■■■ she turned out to be! After 2 mins on the phone, I thought screw this and hung up! Heard from a few people, including companies that used Grafton that they were getting fed up with them. Not sure if the same person is still there, but I’ve noticed lately any jobs being advertised by them has a different contact name.
You could always try Birds at Ballyearl they run out of the old East West yard. The works pretty good and the pay is okay. If they are not taking on they will keep your details so worth the call.

I take it you had the pleasure of dealing with her “charming” approach?
Gave them a call on Friday to see if they had anything on the go to fill a few weeks I have free coming up, and it does seem to be that Janice is no longer - at least as far as drivers are concerned. But they don’t seem to be too interested in people looking short term stuff.
No,
I see them struggling for drivers yet again(adverts all over the local jobnet sites!!!) to cover the Tesco contract.
You gotta be willing to work WEs and get shifts cancelled right up til lastminute.com!!!
They only want you steady as they have certain slots for all the Tesco induction dung!!!
Yeah, when asked what I was interested in I said anything - as long as it was Monday to Friday, day shifts, don’t mind early starts, but I won’t be doing afternoon, evening or night shifts. She mentioned tesco, but they only hold assessments quarterly, and for long term cover. I’m heading to the U.S. for a month at the end of April, so was just looking something to kill the boredom between now and then. They do seem to have a lot of long term contracts on the go, with the possibility of perm employment after, so might be of use to someone. Not too sure what the money’s like - never thought to ask as I’m not interested at the minute.
Cheers for all the advice guys have been in contact with Colin Maguire at sawyers as well as a man at Morgan mclernon so hopefully something will come of it! Appreciate all the comments!

You run completely legal and can opt for salary so no “chasing the trips”.
£100day home(£500wk) plus fuel bonus.
Some days will be long others will be dead handy.
(The week of the bad winds there couple of months ago when the boats where cancelled for 2days I only did the one trip approx 23hrs “on duty”
and took home £520 on salary wages)
90% of the time when you bring a reload back off the boat into NI your “turned” off the boat by another day/late shift driver and its him who delivers the load and you head home for your daily rest

The aul body clock has to get used to working (legally![]()
) 24hr days though.
I did Sun night to Fri morn/afternoon, long-trip/short-trip and home for daily rest on Tue or Wed and mostly handy work running to collect-tip just off most of the motorways/A roads.
Ring and ask for Colin Maguire.£350/wk home is a disgrace

a sound bit of advice there
Was down in Stranraer yesterday and noticed some Irish units parked up. Is there any Irish hauliers that take on Scottish based drivers?

Manfreight
MVH
McBurney
Cheers Mazzer
Think MVH pay drivers by the mile so would avoid!!!
MorganMcLernon cover alot of multidrop on loads out and you WILL deliver into Tesco Boucher/Ballymun with return load.
Stretched to limit on 15spreads!!!
Sawyers on other hand majority will “turn” you off boat and local driver will deliver return load.
