Had my test this afternoon, questions and coupling done no probs and absolutely monged up the reverse worse than i ever have in training, I nailed it yesterday and Sunday and just lost it, it was just a blur

Test nerves can play a massive part, especially where the reverse is concerned, you know you can easily do the exercise so go there next time and show the examiner how good you can be.
Do you think it will be any better in an RDC full of drivers with nothing better to do than stand around watching everyone and hoping someone will stuff up so they have something to talk about??
Stop worrying about the others watching you and get on and do what you know you can do…if you think it will be a problem then it will…you know you can do it so go do it, get the ticket and then you can park outside watchin…
Its a case of mind over matter, if you dont mind, they dont matter…
You fell into the classic “1st 5 minutes, Last 5 minutes” trap. Thats when a lot , if not most people fail. Scared at the start and over confidence at the bit you should be most focused.
This is not a hard test to pass but an easy test to fail
Next time treat each tiny hazard as a major problem. Every green light is your enemy every red light your friend. If it takes 100% to pass it, 30% driving ability and 70% mental strength. You can already drive the 30 now get an instructor that can teach you the 70
I wont say good luck next time. Find soneone who can make the 70 happen
And without knowing you, you failed on more than just the reverse
Don’t give up, just let it make you more determined next time…do you worry about people watching you get inyour car & drive it I hope the answere to that is NO!! So don’t worry about doing just that on your test test nerves can unfortunately hinder you unexpectedly at anytime , don’t let them put you off, get yourself together & go book a retest…& get your pass
I was there myself yesterday mate in a TRUK rigid. Dont even look at the people waiting in various trucks, just imagine they are not there. Everyone will be just as nervous as you, even the guy in the Red Rose truck would of been pooping himself just watching you and trying to learn more from watching you too. Don’t beat yourself up too much it’s hard I know. Just concentrate on getting the retest, I am and I bloody well hope it’s sooner rather than later. Best of luck bud.
I’d book it tomorrow if I had the money but its just that time of year now and I have a 3 year old to feed, let them down what a waste of ■■■■■■■ money
Don’t think like that, get it re-booked as soon as you can. You might be left short now but think ahead a couple of years you’ll have a bit of experience behind you and a decent wage coming in for you and your familly. Don’t give up mate otherwise it’s just money down the drain. What would you rather do, chuck £1000 (rough estimate) down the drain or spend £250 for a retest?
Feel for you AA, I did the same, knocked a cone over on the reverse , everything else afterwards went fine, I opted out of the un/couple cos it was cold. Get that re-test booked ASAP.
top tip for reverse…get the trailer somewhere near the entrance to the box,and if it`s not looking pukka…take a shunt…and i mean a proper shunt.
i drove forward, nearly to the end of the test area…and then just reversed straight back

Dont lose too much sleep over it , took me a few attempts to crack the reverse . I was training in an old vehicle and found reverse very difficult to select . Puts you off at the very start of the test if you are struggling to get the gear . ( should be concentrating on the exercise - not having to find the gear ) . On my final test , I just backed straight in without taking any shunts . Keep trying , you will get there eventually .
