Class 1 cost

I’ve got a little bit of money set aside and some holiday coming up and have been thinking of taking my class 1 for a while now.

My question is how much should I expect to pay and how long would it take?

I’ve been driving class II for over two years now and think I’m starting to get the hang of it

Also, is it worth it? I see lots of stories here of new passers not being able to find a job and if they do it’s for £6.50 an hour etc

I’ve been told £800-£1000 by Chevron where I passed my class 2.
I think there are more jobs out there in class 1. Only know this from browsing job sites though.

You will come up against the usual thing of not holding the category for X amount of time

Thats about right for 16/20 hours including test

Incredibly reasonable.

Try £1250.

Pete

Yeah my CE training cost me about £1200. Plus its about £300 if you need a retest.

Costs tend to vary depending what part of the UK you are in and how much competition there is

… not to mention the quality of the training, the vehicles, the qualifications of the trainers, the status of the training centre eg own test centre? Is the centre accredited?

At the end of the day, you pays your money - you choose.

There’s a lot of “trainers” out there who are totally incapable but will still take your money.

how much competition there is

Not at all. We have two “trainers” within 5 miles of us. We are by far and away the largest and oldest established. We also charge nearly twice as much as them but our pass rate is something they dream of!

Always visit the trainer unless you have a rock solid recommendation.

What percentage in terms of people passing and failing going through your books Peter?

What percentage in terms of people passing and failing going through your books Peter?

Cant quote you the latest definitive figures so, rather than exagerate I give you this info. We run 4 tests in a day. With odd exceptions, we get 3 pass and often 4. Very rarely it will go to 2.

We are certainly above 75% as we get 4 pass more often than 2.

Hope that makes sense.

Pete

Would those tests be referring to 1st time tests or all tests ?

How did I know that question was coming when I was just trying to give a simple, straightforward answer!

Of course they include all tests. Otherwise, where have the retests mysteriously gone??!!

Pete

About a 50% first time pass rate aint bad

so you do 4 tests a day,
so 4 tests a day, is 20 tests a week, x 52 is 1040, say you have a 2 week break, thats 1000 tests a year
class 1 you say is £1250, thats £1,250,000
so if you have a pass rate at say 75%, 25% are fails
so 25% of 1.25 million is £312,000
so as you quote your the home of the money back guarantee, that £312,000 goes back to the people that fail?

the sooner you get it, the sooner your 2 year probation will be up

What planet are you on!!!
Also you forgot that vat accounts for 20% of this turnover figure .

I go on this site to help. As a result, I get a little business from it’s users - - all of whom are very, very happy. Yes, I run a very successful and, dare I say, profitable business. And work damned hard. But I’m not getting drawn into this ridiculous line of discussion.

I asked a question, you give me a rough answer, your putting out about a 75% pass rate, which is good, don’t get me wrong! But you arnt putting out a 100% pass rate, as that would be impossible, and I will say, you haven’t claimed to either. What I was trying to make out, is with you having, your grades, your dsa training centre, near on new, if not new wagons, your not putting out a100% pass rate! Your the, as you quote “home of the money back guarantee” so if I’m a customer and I fail, do you give me my money back? If you do then that’s very generous! You may call it a ridiculous line of discussion! Your a shrewd business man, who will put others down,to feather his own nest! In a very clever way. Your no different to the 1 man band man, down the road behind the pub, with the 96 scania, his pass rate could be 75%. :unamused:

I suggest you ask the many happy customers on here what the difference is!

I’m on the same planet as you! Ok take of the 20%, I’m just asking a few questions, like any possible customer is allowed to ask. Or is there certain questions that shouldn’t be asked?

Ask them what? His customers will say he is good too, why would they not? Your avoiding some questions that I’m asking, which I thought you would! As I said your a clever business man! Now back to this “unique” money back guarantee you offer, how does this work for any potential customers reading this
