I got a job. New scania 5■■ or something. 80t max load. Low loader.
120 a day. 10h days.
I drive daf 220 skip lorry for more money and less hours. What’s wrong with this industry.
Btw the current driver is 69 and about to retire.
Retirement is the new song of class 1 drivers these days. I think class one industry is a bit behind class 2.
I think it is the size of the engine. 580 maybe.
I might be a dreamer but I think 180 £ day would be reasonable offer. After all this Is epsom. Expensive area to live.

Agreed…is it PAYE or LTD ?
Anywhere south of Leicester is expensive nowadays mate
£120 a day for a 10 hr day is £12 per hour. And you claim your doing skip work for more money and less hours?
Something not right here. Your either lying, exaggerrating or im missing something (which is possible I admit!) but I cant see you on £15-16 a hour for skip work
It was page offer.
at the moment I’m running around Surrey hills.
from 7 to 16.30. Mon Fri.
500 take home. No lying .
Before I was runing in London Wimbledon
same money but it was from 6 to 18.00 so more hours but they had bonus system that adds about 200 to 300 every month.
I’m new to driving. Been drivin since March.
I don’t know how much I should earn etc but the point is if I can make 500 on little skip lorry why the fak I should drive artic.
For the glory and respect you’ll receive dear boy!
Seriously though, going back to the original offer, I have no doubt that it is indeed £120 a day, I think however the chance of only doing ten hours for that are remote at best.
The abnormal load job will have a lot of warming the bed involved so whereas you’re chasing yourself up your own backside on the skips, the heavy load stuff will have lots of times where you’re doing nothing but inspecting the back of your eyelids on £12/hr. Last time I did it was with wind turbine masts and it wasn’t uncommon to spend a couple of days on site being paid to inspect the back of your eyelids as you waited for the wind to drop enough to lift it off.

Boy that sounds tough Conor, just think of all the can of Baked Beans you could have been stacking instead…

That’s more or less the type of job that I was doing on Surrey County Council except it was a multi lift doing bulk refuse and plant haulage and it was for around £420 per week ‘less’.
Let’s just say that if I could and if they wanted me back doing it now for £500 per week take home it would be a no brainer.
