Class 1&2 Jobs Plymouth area?

Happy New Year everyone. Just wondering what the outlook for work in the Plymouth area is. I haven’t driven for five years as I had a nice warehouse job but have recently been made redundant after furlough. I’m 54 and would need to renew my cpc and medical and tacho card and wondering is it worth it. I would rather class 1 but Ive done many years multidrop. I don’t mind a few days agency each week either. Many Thanks Glyn.

Hi Glynno
I was very similar to you ,
Was out of transport for about 5 years then along come COVID and being made redundant.
Like you I had to take medical / Cpc / etc got it all sorted within 10 days of being made redundant.
I haven’t looked back since .
my break from transport has recharged the batteries .
I absolutely love my job .
I think a big factor on whether it’s worth it or not is dependent on the job you get or what you want to do .
Luckily for me I keep the same truck 68 plate scania sleeper cab g280. My job is mainly distance work with a few nights away .
If I was doing local multi drop day work I would probably not be enjoying my job half as much .
Saying that I would imagine that would be your way back into driving as generally a lot of the pallet networks are usually looking for drivers .
In your neck of the woods I believe
Kay’s , Langdons and evans are just a few who are in palletnetworks .
Good luck

Hi mate.

I know Gardeners in Plympton do local pallet and distance work.

Can’t comment on what they are like to work for but kit looks decent enough …

Might be worth a phone call at least.

Good luck with the search

Thanks Happy Trucker & Spike. I never used my class 1 much before as I enjoyed the pallet network but I fancy more driving now than hauling loaded pallets on pallet trucks. I’m going to get my license sorted by the end of March and hopefully the world should be a bit more normal then. Thanks again Glyn.
