Has anybody ever had bad encounters with city centre trams when you need to deliver on a road that has tram lines etc etc
I’m assuming they can acutally stop should the need to without a station

It is always fun delivering around the older parts of Antwerp, some parts in Germany as well.
I did almost get wiped out in Amsterdam as I forgot which side they drove on and walked straight out in front of one, my excuse was 17 pints of Heineken and a dish of mayonaise. I was distracted as I had just left the Banana bar
I had a near miss with one in poznan going under a bridge as i [first trip poland]didnt realize trams had right of way.
regards dave.

Lucky you. This can end nasty. One other guy wasn’t so lucky:
(this is Poznań as well).
You can usually pull onto pavement, sometimes it’s tight squeeze and sometimes mirrors have to be folded.
It’s worse when you have to turn or u-turn across tram tracks, trams in both directions have the right of the way, the opposite cars have right of the way, at the same time you don’t to wait for ages…
The trams have very efficient brakes but still need some distance to stop.

Actually idiot car drivers blocking the tram tracks are quite common issue, this is what google returned me when I asked it for “tramway blocked by vehicle” and it’s only from articles from first page:
But I did not found any case of lorry blocking tramways (and I never heard about it as well).
I think it’s becouse lorry drivers are more aware of their vehicles dimensions and requirements of other big vehicles…
It is not a new problem
