Citronella Candles / Burners?

Have you ever need to burn a citronella candle in your cab, to prevent any mozzies / midge getting into your cab eating you alive when sleeping etc…?

I got bitten so bad last week at the Red Lion. I was at the back of the parking area, got woken up in the night because of those ■■■■■■■■■ Now I’m bitten all over my shoulders and face…

Try Avon skin so soft. The little blighters hate it and won’t come near.

Anybody remember those spiral things that you used burn in the cab to keep mozzies out? They worked only to well you could leave your windows wide open and not a midge or mozzie in the cab, then again there where no drivers either they used to stink everything out, your bedding , clothes, and you, it’s a shame they stank so bad because they sure worked…

Not a good idea.

If your considering burning citronella candles or mosquito coils I think there would be a risk if using them in the confined space of the cab, however If you head off on holiday to Spain
I actually decant the liquid in old glade plugins for use at home as the bottle doesn’t fit the uk plug housing, so I suspect you could decant the liquid into a car plugin and use it in the truck, unfortunately I’ve never seen these for sale in the uk

Put the air con on for a few mins. They hate it.

Yeah I agree. Used to be fantastic. Now it just attracts them to me and leaves me with very oily skin.

Try working in the Galloway or the trossachs without any midge repellent and tell me then how tough you are!

If you’re bothered with flies around the Trossachs, try taking a shower everyday to prevent it. :bulb:

Do a lot of night fishing and I use lifesystems expedition plus.
Rub it on any exposed areas, for a mozzie free night.

A naked flame in a small truck cab.

What could possibly go wrong?

I used to do a lot of North West Highlands and regularly overnighted in the forestry. Having a dump in the morning in july and august could be some ordeal, wait till it was poking its head out and then quickl out of the cab and behind the nearest tree, one wipe then back in the cab, any polishing would have to be done in there. Can’t concentrate for the dam things, anything outside is just a nightmare early in the morning or late at night (sometimes all day long). I once got so mixed up with the dam things I set my head on fire by mistake, I tried to light a smoke up inside a midge hood and it caught fire, melted and stuck to my face.

This would be before proper air/pollen filters and for the summer months I would remove the external air vents and wrap them in womens tights, that would keep most of them out whilst hiding i the cab of an evening.

It will look like you’re having a vigil for terror attack victims.
