Chump City

Yet another example of what we’re up against.

This is an internal Strap Buckle, trapped in the rear curtain post of one of our Double Deka’s, I had the misfortune to take this trailer to the Solihull Hub/Dump a couple of weeks ago, it was the fifth internal strap that was caught, making the other four internal straps trapped behind it useless, until I ‘CROWBAR’d’ the post out if it’s housing.
(Lucky I had a Crowbar/Equaliser [emoji6])
The trailer also had 2 huge chunks gouged out of one of its tyres & damage to the rim, that had to be replaced before I left the yard.
O

Just wondering what others would do if presented with a trailer in this condition ?

I’d probably post it on a forum to show how good I was then hope the thread went in my favour.

Failing that I’d just sort it and crack on…that’s my job

I would have cleaned my fingernails before photographing it and putting up on here.
I know what you mean though, it is ■■■■ annoying when left with stuff like that, designed by some thoughtless ■■■■ purely just to ■■■■ you off, and make your ■■■■ day even worse. :smiling_imp:

All i see is sausage fingers

Looks like John Wayne Transport, cant be much left on the brake pads either looking at the amount of brake dust.

Well, I’ve been out to a trailer with a ‘brake problem’ only to find the problem was a mangled Sainsburys trolley wrapped around the axle so nothing would really surprise me.

I don’t like the look of one of those side wall gouges, in particular but, the rim is no dramas, you’ll know when it is as the tyre bead will come away.

Won’t somebody think of the children?

To be honest, when I saw the title, I thought you were talking about Coca Cola Sidcup.
How coke is still in business I don’t know. Incompetent is a very inadequate way to describe them.

I think you Would have to ask how many drivers had taken said trailers out on the road before more vigilant drivers notice the defects. Surely it’s down to the driver checks as well as the company’s to ensure the equipment is roadworthy. Company’s like Coca Cola are sometimes criticised for being OTT about H&S on their sites. But they can’t be held responsible for the state of the wagons going in and out of their sites.

The regular trunk driver was hooked up & would have taken this trailer without a thought, he’s always in a hurry to get finished, the only reason I got the job was because his window wipers were knackered & he was delayed while they waited for a new set, so they asked me to do it.
I wouldn’t normally be too fussy with bent rims, but because it had obviously been dragged round a kerb or something solid & there were chunks in the side wall, I made a point of getting it fixed, not that it will change the culture in our place, but at least they know not to give me a piece of Unroadworthy Junk to jeopardise my licence.

Sadly I think that’s the culture in most places. Say nothing and let it be someone else’s problem! Like you say it’s your licence. They may think twice now before leaving you with a heap of Tom ■■■ next time.

You’re lot are only playing at being inept, if being an imbecile of a driver were an olympic sport our team would win gold every time.
