Christmas working

we are day drivers, hours are generally between 5am-5pm,mon-friday.we are expected to work 3 saturdays over Christmas and the NewYear, the 20th and 27th of December, and 3rd january.the only days we will have off is Christmas Day,Boxing Day,new years Day,and every Sunday.back to work as normal on the5th Jan.
question is…will we be legal, will we get our weekly breaks in? hope i’ve explained it ok,if not more head-scratching!

You’ll have:

A regular weekly rest period in the week ending 14th December.

A reduced weekly rest period in the week ending 21st December.

A regular weekly rest period in the week ending 28th December (25th and 26th).

A reduced weekly rest period in the week ending 4th January.

Then back to normal so a regular weekly rest period in the week ending 11th January.

That’s perfectly legal.

thanks for the speedy reply tachograph!

You’re welcome

By the way, if the Saturday work is 5am to 5pm the same as your usual shifts you won’t have to bother about compensation for the reduced weekly rest periods, the 9 hours compensation for the reduced weekly rest period on 21st December will be paid back on the 28th, the 28th December will be a reduced weekly rest period of 24 hours (no compensation needed) plus the compensation for the 21st.

The compensation for the reduced weekly rest period on the 4th January will be paid back the following weekend when your shifts get back to normal.

thank you very much
