prison and he deserves it

Archer and Aitken didn’t think they’d be going to jail - but they did.

The fact that he’s given up his ward (thus preserving the benefits that go with it) suggests he’s ready and prepared for what would seem to be an inevitable custodial sentance. If he’d done some deal with the judicary, then he wouldn’t have given up his seat imo.

That’s why I reckon he’ll go to jail. It’s just a question of how long for now.

I reckon a K9999 tax code for the next 10 years would be better than a fine too. This would make him abandon any attempts to make stacks of money in this country on things like the after dinner circuit, because he’d have the first £100k per year confiscated in tax effectively! :bulb:

The guy made a big mistake but instead of admitting it he seemed to assume he would get away scot free - until he changed his plea. The problem for all of us is that every time the public get to hear about yet another bent politician it reduces their faith in the political system from the already ■■■■-poor position it is in nowadays. Thats not good for us as a people.

The fact is if he was some random bloke most wouldn’t care but as a politician it puts him in a leadership position ( :unamused: :smiling_imp: ) but I think with people like this its a case of "do as I say, not as I do.

I wonder how many other skeleton’s there are with the other bunch of cretins we have as MP’s? :stuck_out_tongue:

Tip to Carryfast also:

Please don’t mention Maggie T in this thread. Ta

I care less about his asking his ex wife to take the points than he has lied and asked people, who you would have thought most important to him, to also lie in an attempt to hide embarrassment.

That said it would appear that this is the required character for most politicians with very few able to truly use the preface “right honorable”.

if you work on the theory that 90% of politicians are liars and the other 10% are incapable of telling the truth then you will be about right

lock him up

I’d deny everything, The case would be dropped as she’s not right in the head.

Errr, he tried that. Clearly didn’t work. Perhaps he should have hired you as his legal team

I don’t think he runs an agency though. :unamused:

Spot on. In my opinion he’ll be heading to prison.

if he gets jail time it will, for sure, be in an open prison and a nice cushy job in the library, weekends spent at home, and early release for good behaviour, trouble for him was, as is for anyone who, in statement lies to the police, he just kept digging the hole a bit deeper, and obviously compounded the unholy situation by leaving his missus, for a.n.other woman(ffs!) he is a millionaire ,surely he could have got himself a driver for a year? and claimed he was doing his bit re the unemployed? done that politician spin stuff>turned it round so he appeared to be acting for the common good. He really was not that sharp in his dealing with this situation. the guy is a very wealthy ■■■(in my opinion)

Open Prisons must have a lot of librarians… Don’t they get their inmates to do any crappy jobs even for other toffee nosed inmates?

Maybe a spell in Brixton would be better. He’d have to bring his own vaseline like the world the rest of us have been propelled into. :imp: :smiling_imp:

a pointless stint in prison.

All depends on who he is sharing his cell with …

He is/was a LibDem and seems to have a preference for women who either look like blokes or are lesbians so maybe that’s been his plan from the start. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

You’ve been watching too much telly!!!

Ross.

yeah its not as if he had 9
3 points dont hurt anyone who earns a politicians wage

Wrong. At the time he already had 9 points on his licence and would almost certainly have been banned had he been convicted of another speeding offence.

Thats not totally true, he would be summonsed to court if he would reach 12 with 3 points. Its for the court to decide whether he is then given the 3 (or more) and or banned. If 10 years ago like me, he didn’t show up at court then they couldn’t ban him in his absence. It’s changed since then

What I wrote was correct - If he had been convicted for the speeding offence when he already had 9 points on his licence then he would almost certainly have been banned. He could not of course have been convicted without first being summonsed to court…

Not also that “almost certainly” is not the same as “certainly”.

Didn’t he give a big speech a while back about the punishments for criminals? I think he said something along the lines of - punishments getting tougher would not deter criminals, what we need to do is put our efforts into catching more of them! He quoted some statistic about 90% (or 99% ?) of criminals get away with their crime… He should be dead chuffed that he’s been caught - it’s what he was chuntering on about :unamused:

I wish I could be more accurate, but I didn’t realise at the time that I would need the information at a later date.

the bloke does not seem to have taken a leaf out of his fellow lib dem mate mark oaten’s book. I.E. dont go saying things in public if you know you have something in your cupboard that will bite you on the ■■■…as in oaten’s case literally no doubt
