Chipliner/Walking Floor

Probably a bit of a daft question here, but what’s the difference between a Chipliner and a Walking Floor trailer? Now obviously I get that the walking floor walks the load out, so how do you unload a chipliner? Apart from pulling back both curtains or something I don’t see the theory behind it?

Cheers

Chipliner I saw a video on you tube “Stobarts” yes I know that words banned

They opened the curtains and a digger just pushed it out the other side…

Found the videoif your intrested to watch

chipliner, best on market is by the irish trailer maker sdc, also montracon, walking floors by legras, stas, fruehauf

That chipliner looks like a recipe for disaster, I wouldn’t fancy using one of those. Any how I use walking floor trailers by legras and united trailers.

Why a recipe for disaster?

I thought that. If that’s the normal way of unloading them then there must be a high damage rate, and I’m not sure I would fancy opening the curtains with the risk of that lot dropping on my head either.

you would be suprised that it just stays there, but they are a pain in the ■■■■ to use, the curtains are heavy and the dust gets in the slides, but if you have a good machine driver there shouldn’t be any damage, the only thing is once you tipped you have to be dragged out of the heap.
when i used to run out of norbord at south molton the real pain bit was if you had done a run delivering to B&Q’s all over the place, and then back loaded with chips, and you had pallets on that had been rejected from you first run, they use to load over them, just had to tell the machine driver that they were on the front of the trailer so he didn’t push them out onto the heap, then you had to dig them out of what was left once the machine had finished

Best thing about a chipliner is getting to laugh at walking floor drivers in the middle of winter trying to defrost 28 tonnes of sawdust/bark/chip. Frozen floor. .ha ha ha

Exactly.

We normally don’t have to worry about frozen floors, as they spend most of their time loaded with waste, which is warm and smelly whatever the weather.

Our lot seem to prefere Titan Thinwall walking floors 5 new ones have just appeared
