Child seat in truck

18 months ago i took my grandson who was just starting the long recovery from cancer on a trip to j 41 from dewsbury to fuel up at morrisons, i,d promised him i would, so when he was strong enough to sit up in the kiddy seat off we went, he,d not long had his third birthday and he had a big smile on his face for days, he, just about fully recovered now, what a little man.

not really sure i see the problem? better to have a child seat in and be secure than to have a child in running loose, i try and take my two out each year seperately of course - this is my eldest with me just less than two years ago when she was four,(its not a real phone by the way)

it was much easier then because i was on live haul and surprisingly there was no restrictions on children being in trucks at the factory - the hardest part was explaining to them what was happening to the ducks going into the machine! i told them they were there to be cleaned!!!

i think its important for them to be involved in what i do.

Aaahhhhh bless!

what about the drivers seat?
my little boy in the pics is now nearly fourteen, used to love coming to work, cant drag him out of bed now though!!

Son and Grandson. Both been out with me, but son fits truck tyres and Grandson ain’t interested. :frowning:

why? they are a third party so they are covered.none of the firms ive worked for have had an issue with it.

Good to hear that Andrew that plenty of firms do inrelation to passengers and if anything did happen(accidents etc) that would be the crunch point.

Lots of insurance third party withregards haulage industry use of passenger seat relates to insuring a fellow employee rather than a child or family member.Best checking with company in question

My lad has been out quite a few times, including nights out> Our boss has no problems with the kids going in the trucks, its just a lot of the places now won’t let kids in, even though when mine started coming with me he couldn’t even walk so it wasn’t very likely he was going to suddenly leap out of the cab
Nowdays if he comes with me he just takes refuge on the bunk if they don’t let kids in.

The first truck i had didn’t have seatbelts for the child seat so I used a couple of ratchet straps to hold it in

Not quite correct. Any basic insurance policy will cover third party (read passengers) it is only the company operating the vehicle who will impose any passenger restrictions, and
Imo they do this to lessen any potential claims made by a passenger in the event of an accident.

I do night work mostly, either picking up from farms or distribution centre deliveries, and I take my lad out with me all the time, unless I’m messing around locally. He even comes on school nights and goes to school on an hour of sleep. I just hide him if I’m doing fridge work he just jumps on the bunk and I throw a coat over his feet. Company have never said anything he’s even been in the office so presume its ok hes defenatly going to be a trucker, he has a game called euro truck simulator with steerin wheel, pedals, gears, the lot. Atleast he doesn’t play those stupid violent games, when he comes I also Hve to take a scania as he hates dafs.
Trained him well.
