And it’s not a good wow!
Decided to pop here for a 45, getting into the lorry park was interesting as the roads are in such a bad state! In fact such a bad state, that as I was reversing, I genuinely thought I had just crumpled the fibreglass front of another truck because the tyres were ripping up the concrete…I wasn’t even jack knifing, quite a gentle reverse!
And what’s worse, although no-one would bother targeting a Sainsbury’s truck, I don’t feel safe here…I’ve stopped off at services loads of times, but I’ve never had this feeling before!
On the plus side, I’m parked next to a mint looking Scania something or other from Mitchell Trucking Co. Reg S666 MTC…more lights than what you could shake a Christmas tree at though.
Use Chieveley … If you don’t mind the european lady knocking on your window asking if you want to buy some gold … why you not want to buy this gold … what wrong with you, you no like gold?
Was there loads of ‘hard as ■■■■ criminal/cons on a day out’ looking types loitering near the entrance or piling outta transits/estate cars with the ‘wot the ■■■■ you looking at’ expression, making you feel like they were gonna jack ya wagon as soon as you were outta site? Makes ya feel glad to be at ‘home’ don’t it!!

Just had to amend my post as I actually was at Chieveley…no idea why I said Membury as I didn’t even go that way today :S
When it’s busy it can be a right mess with trucks queing for diesel, some at the front across the parking bays and others that have just come off a parking bay, plus you sometimes get a truck parked right across where you need to exit
My post counts for nowt now as they are ‘Poles’ (
) apart…geddit??
(nothing against the hard working, honest Orys)

Well your mistake was stopping there in the first place, should of just carried on down the road into Newbury and parked up on the industrial estate, plenty of trucks use the place and easy to walk into the town for decent food!

Well I was going to Wantage…so had already been through Newbury. But I didn’t realise how bad it was…But next time I think I’ll just stick to laybys. I was really hungry so ventured inside for food…but when I saw the prices I walked out. How bad is that…that you’d prefer to starve rather than buy their food. I’m amazed people pay for these places.
One or two words for UK MSA`S;Luftwafte, you missed!
if you work out the parking fee,if parked for 7 days, you have bought that strip of urine stained tarmac, you own the dam thing, put a sign up saying private and reserved with the reg number on it.
Make the grannies walk half a mile for the ripp off hot water with a 22 pence tea bag from Lidls.

Oh yeah…the rest of the place looked fine (except the restoration). It was just the truck park that was ■■■■…I’m just surprised people still pay to park there despite it being so poor in standards. The least trucks could do is park in the coach and car areas to prove a point.
