Hello,my dad’s name was Jim illidge,he did about 5 years there I think,we’re you the transport manager ■■
Hi Brickblock. Are you related to Kev & Steve Illidge by any chance. If so you may remember this lad.
Yes pal I’m there youngest brother,I remember both of those motors
I worked with both Steve & Kev at Albion Chemicals/Hays for 12 month before I left and went into partnership 2003 with Roger Bettley and 2 other lads at Direct North West tanker company based on Station Rd, after that I used to see your Steve quite often when he delivered oil to a place I was working at in 2009/10.Is he still on for Nynas?Havent seen Kev since we closed Direct North West down in 2006,say hello to them both for me.(John)
Hello john, yes steve is still at nynas and Kevin has been at roberts bakery for about 8 years,he’s on nights there,I will tell them both you have asked about them, cheers.
I think Edge used to be on Hoole Lane, Chester. They moved after neighbours complained about trucks starting up in the early hours, as it was slap bang in the middle of a fairly big housing area.

I think that ERF could be ex Pritchard Llangefni . thank you Trevor .
Hi guys, I would like to trace an old mate of mine, Martin Fletcher, we were both on powder tanks at R K Brownings, Leighton Buzzard in the early eighties, he lived in Dunstable at the time but moved to Birkenhead and went on for R H Stevens, the last time I saw him was when he came in to wash his tank out, that must have been around 1986ish.
We used to have some great times and it would be great to get in contact again. if any of you Cheshire boys know him, would you tell him that Andy Muir has been asking about him.
Must be away now, apparently I’ve got to go shopping, yeah, great!!!

hiya Pete…got me stumped on that one. a good pal of mine Steve Barlow was the mechanic at Moss and Lovatt,s
(the ERF is his)when i see him next i’ll ask him. the Leylands seem to ring a bell in my head, some of the directors
of M&Lwas also working at Longton transport(Guy and Leyland agents)so there is a possibility.
the demise of M&L was too many fingers in the pie. one director give his shares to his 4 kids who had no interest in the
lorries, when the main man passed away quite quickly the share holders wanted the money, that killed off the lorries.
Not knit picking Rushton Spencer(which is what M&L was called years ago)is in Staffordshire only by a mile but it is

I do hope you enjoyed your shopping trip. I know how most chaps look forward to such excursions.
I worked at Stevo’s with Martin but haven’t seen him for years. I believe he had a minor disagreement with the forces of law and order (maybe in the late 90s?) which resulted in him taking a holiday at the taxpayers’ expense. I remember him driving from the Wirral to Macclesfield in some ancient and battered car or another but petrol prices eventually got the better of him and he bought a motorcycle for the once-a-week trip, made with a giant rucksack full of dirty washing!
I’m not sure what sort of vehicle Martin drove when I first came to Macclesfield but I’m guessing it would have been a B-series ERF (■■■■■■■■ with a powder tanker. When I returned to RHS after some time on other firms he was driving one of those horrible Renault Premium things with a curtainsider doing multi-drops mainly around North Wales and Merseyside, a run I took over after he left. Martin’s son started for Stevo when I was there - super young chap - and he told me that his dad was having trouble finding work.
We had quite a few decent nights out together years ago. As far as I can remember, anyway! It would be great if anyone can update us on how he’s doing these days.
Yep, that sounds just like the Martin I remember!! Found this pic of one of the wagons he drove when he was at RKB’s, if I remember correctly, he used to use it as a hotel sometimes.
