I’ve got a 02 reg galaxy, done 22,000 miles in the last yr, nothing big problem wise, serviced every 10,000 miles, starts 1st every time, normally 5 seats with wifes wheeelchair and kids ski gear in the back, 41 mpg in the winter, 44.5 mpg in the summer, 145,00 on the clock as still going strong, next car will be the same.

In house servicing above and beyond the manufacturers skimpy high mileage bare minimums, might be worth a peruse.
Hope that what with government cuts you didn’t buy an ex-VOSA Galaxy and find it suffered from a poor maintenance regime. 
To be honest I think a ML 63AMG is far better
Ive come accross a few ex VOSA Galaxies and everyone one only has 4 seats, What the hell do they do with the other 3■■ as apparently they are all delivered with them all!! theres a warehouse full of galaxy seats somewere belonging to vosa!!
You don’t say how many of you there is but I would rather an estate car,much nicer to drive,but more kudos than an mpv and just as big if you get a 7 seater.
My money would be on a Volvo estate 7 seats good engines and they will go on forever.
If you have to have an mpv then you can sometimes get them ex police vosa on eBay,I’m sure there is a company that specialises in them on there. Stick it in the search you will be surprised what you find

Avoid like the plague anything built by Renault, endless trouble with mine which is going this Friday.
Japanese are the best Honda FRV Mazda 5 Corolla Verso etc, or German Touran Alhambra and so on, if you don’t want to spend much the Citroen Picasso is ok, they drive like a lager can on wheels but they seem durable enough.
