Hello Used to go to Cyprus quite a lot to visit relatives and noticed a lot of old Scammels,AEC,Big J4s and other such beasts parked up doing bugger all.
No rot(due to weather)and all complete, anybody know a good shipper who could get them to the UK at a reasonable price?
Used to ask how much they wanted for them but could never get a straight answer but now things have changed over there and maybe worth a trip and buy one or two.
Saw a pristine super hippo with full double drive and an old land train sat there baking in the sun. What a waste.
i agree. but i think yer about 25 years too late. all the moneys been made. firstly on the export of them wagons. and then on the import of them wagons back here for the enthusiasts. done it myself a good few year back…its a vat issue of some sort .must be still a few good wagons left out there and malta. communication with the locals/owners is the hardest bit…good luck if yer go for it…

Must be worth a try. When was the last time you saw an old Leyland road train in all its “glory” Down the road from my sisters there was 5 Scamell crusaders and 2 saracens.
They got to be worth saving havent they?
If nobody buys em they will be just crushed and turned into a bloody nissan van.
A lot of the trucks were exported from the uk,so they have seen their fair share of rain, snow, roadsalt etc,and if you look closely at most of the cabs,(ergo cab leylands i was looking at) they arnt that great.
Guess there will be the odd barn stored gem if you are lucky, but i would be very careful.
And if they are anything like the Greeks in Greece, they’ll be asking stupid money for them - they’re in the ess h one t now so watch the prices go up.
Second hand vehicles are ridiculously expensive, so look carefully.
