Charity Auction: The Watch. on E-bay Now

First off apologies in not getting this organised quicker but apart from recovering from Saturday night’s excesses; inconsiderate agency gang bosses giving me stupid o’clock starts and also the need to say farewell to an old Aunt have got in the way of my good intentions.

Anyway all that is behind me and the watch is now for sale on e-bay, yes it’s on my wife’s account (by kind permission) mainly because she has a good e-bay rating which adds to bidding confidence. You will see it is also listed as a charity item with 100% of the proceeds going to the Professional Drivers Foundation.

The Watch? Oh yes, It is a quality Longhill Martin, stainless steel watch and bracelet in a round presentation tin. The dark face has the MAN logo under the ‘12’ setting. It has a classic analogue dial with dots instead of numbers and a magnified date feature. There is a reserve on the watch but it is well within the prices achieved by other items on the night.

The auction is timed to end around 7.30ish pm on Sunday 10th March (which is Mothering Sunday) so plenty of time to get your bids on as well as a few last minute bids.

So if you were at the ‘do’ on Saturday night but had run out of cash, or if you were unable to attend, now is your chance to grab a piece of the action. The watch would look fine on any arm be it in the cab or the office.

Good luck with your bidding.

Auction Details

Can I just add that this is a quality item , last year one went at the charity night for £280 - its your chance to grab a bargain the only reason it didnt sell on the night is that it was one of the iterms held for the end and everyone had run out of cash

need a better camera

Absolutely agree but my photographer was having an off day and I ended up with the choice of either posting it with what I had or face yet another delay.

Once I can get some better photos I will post them.

just shared the link to Facebook, and put a little write up about what it is for

If only it had Scania written on it instead, coud probably add a zero!

Just clicked the link, ditto the comment about the camera

Currently at £92, not bad really considering it’s so early into the auction. :grimacing:

I’m a bit of a watch connoisseur with a couple of Omegas & Christopher Ward watches but who the hell are Longhill Martin?

Page 69 of their catalogue for full details of the watch, the only difference is the one on offer has the MAN logo on the face.

Sweet jesus, those are awful. It may be for charity but I wouldn’t give you a fiver for that.

The auction ends Sunday evening at 19:35 so don’t forget to get your bids on

I’m certain the Trucknet members are very grateful for your in depth critique, thankfully nobody is asking you to buy it.

Ross.

It’s doing well at 90 odd quid.

Should make a bit more in the next 24h.

You caught me on a skintight week

Standing at £112 with less than a hour to go; the football’s over so is the rugby. Mother has been visited and there’s still time to pop down the pub (for those who’ve yet to imbibe).

Now’s the time to place your bids…

Just spotted this and clicked on link, finished at £112. Not bad at all, think my max bid at the event was £55 - well, that’s all I had left in my wallet :grimacing:

Glad it went on ebay and raised a bit more - even if the fees are a bit of a git.

Because it was a 100% charity auction the placement fees will be returned. Such things as Photos and reserve charges will be paid by the seller (me) There is a charge for using the charity service but that again will most likely be met by yours truly.

As is the general rule with the trustees minor expenses incurred through the day to day running of the charity are written carefully on a piece of paper, screwed up and thrown away.

Many thanks to all who supported us and bid in this auction, especially the winner  . It is heart warming to know that even in these hard times there are people willing to help their fellow drivers.
Thank you all very much.

That’s good to know.

Very generous of you and other trustees, everyone is on a tight budget, so to dip into your own pocket to run the charity is extremely generous, well done.

Excellent price at the end of the auction and absolutely the correct decision made by Rikki ‘on the night’ to put it on Ebay

Well done and thanks to all for bidding on it

We now have another item donated on the night to the PDF to put on Ebay from Jenny B, who may or may not wish to remain anonymous

It will be going up today some time…watch this space
