Just heard from a friend that the French are working to rule at Calais to show the world what will happen with Brexit. Is anyone there or have been through there today? What was the delays like?

Didn’t know that the French held a referendum on damaging their own economy but vote or no vote they seem to be doing a good job of it.

No doubt it’s damaging their economy but how many goods are actually going to France and not travelling through France instead and beyond?
Meanwhile I’d guess most goods coming through Calais to the UK are bound for the UK.
So yeah it may hurt them but by pure percentage it will also hurt us.

I agree but it was more of a riposte at people who blame Brexit for everything yet are not seeing the problems on their own doorstep France and Ireland’s leaders are revelling in Brexit as it helps to take the spotlight off their own failings. Yes the UK is not exactly up there in the competence stakes, but Macron and Veradker must thank their lucky stars each night that May is so incompetent. The French in Calais will cause disruption whenever they can at the drop of a hat, Brexit is just another excuse
Basically, it’s yet more “Project Fear” ■■■■■■■■.
"LONDON (Reuters) - Britain leaving the European Union without an agreement over its future relationship with the bloc will not create delays at the French port of Calais, the port’s chief said on Wednesday, despite concerns raised over potential logistical chaos.
Dover is Britain’s main gateway to Europe, with up to 16,000 trucks a day passing through to Calais at peak times, transporting everything from perishable food to medicines and industrial goods needed to keep factories running.
Jean-Marc Puissesseau, president and chief executive of Port Boulogne Calais, told the BBC’s Today programme that the port “will be ready” on March 29, the date when Britain will leave the EU if no agreement is reached."
It’s a dockers strike about pensions and reforms.
Nothing else
Nothing to do with Brexit but being seized on by the lying remainers and sold as being about Brexit.

Thanks for clearing that up as usual to many people to eager to blame everything on Brexit. Apparently February’s temperatures would have been more seasonal if the UK hadn’t voted for Brexit

It was t the dockers, it was the customs staff at Calais and Dunkirk. They were demonstrating to get the French government to realise that more staff will be needed after 29th March,
The French equivalent of op stack was on the A26 and the A16

another field day for the taliban and the rest of the unwashed then.
Oh the good old french, any reason not to work, maybe its their contribution to the yellow jacket protests in Paris and beyond. As they once said when the English strike, they're afraid of their government
when the French strike their government is afraid of them`
blame brexit but really we are working to rule dam right they are

Pretty much sums up the country 24/7.
Just get the RHA to join with Eurotunnel and ferry companies to sue the French unions (and customs workers) into the ground then everything works again.
Oh that would require the RHA to be useful…ok, plan B. Nuke France.

Sweeping generalisation and unfair- The customs (government employees) are protesting in advance of Brexit, and demanding a bigger increase in personnel over the few extra employed already.
From my experience in France, most firms and their personnel are helpful and amenable. When the start time is 8,football has been discussed and coffee drunk and then it’s work time.
One of our drivers was queuing 6 hours to board ferry from Dunkirk on tuesday morning. Gladly i haven’t been sent over the water this week and don’t wish to if that is how long it is gonna be

I hate to burst your bubble, but it’s French Customs working to rule to highlight the lack of sufficient preparation for Brexit on the French side.
Worryingly…the French have put far more resources into preparing for Brexit than the UK has. Brexit minister Raabbbb had to be told that Dover was an important ferry port, such was his grasp of international trade. The DfT is now employing someone to use Google Maps to look for places where trucks can park near the Channel Ports.
Hopefully our blue passports will be delivered in time (from France) after we have ‘taken back control’.
Apparently normal working conditions resumed at 14.00 this afternoon so now will just have to wait for the backlog to clear 6 of us waiting in Zeebrugge going to head down there at about 1 so will see what it is like hopefully be quiet enough at that time
Currently taking 3 hours from Pidou’s to the first waiting area in Calais if you’ve a fridge then you go into the first area if not then you’ve to go to the second holding area fair play to the French at least they know fridge men are more important
