channel tunnel

These delays seem to have been going on for weeks, so I doubt it’s one incident. I really hope they get it sorted soon.

Although I’d much prefer to use a ferry, we sometime have no option but to use the Tunnel as we carry fuel, although it’s smallish quantities we cannot carry it on a passenger ferry or even the freight boats out of Dover. Could go out of Purfleet, but it’s a 12 hour crossing or something, But we can carry the quantity we have on through the tunnel.

You queue for 2 hrs+ to get on the train, then stand in a minibus next to Eastern European soap dodgers, pay £2 for a “coffee” stand with the dobras again then the guy in front takes out 3 tyres on the edge of the carriage, another half hour queuing to get going again.
P&O every time if I had my way
Tunnel was fine when it was fast and cheap, now it’s neither

Hi Super R500 and Welcome to Trucknet.

Sounds like a real pain, apparently they have new open carriages it’s causing trucks to be damaged in the Tunnel. It seems to have been going on for weeks and they still haven’t sorted it. I believe you pay extra for the tunnel because it’s supposed to be quicker to get across the channel, hardly seems worth it at the moment.

wasnt the carraige that caused the problem was the knobhead that had not sucured the front of his sliding roof properly.

Wasn`t a sliding roof it was a Bulker with a Roll-over sheeting system.

Swap-bodies of all descriptions (Tilt`s Taut-liners and even sheet-ed Flats) have been sent through the tunnel since it opened and the tunnel operators know of the problems of loose sheets and as such make checks at the rail terminals and although problems have occurred they are relatively few and far between. Eurotunnel did nothing about checking and testing these roofless wagons before putting them into service and bar checking you had caps on your fuel tanks no vehicle safety checks were really carried out.

as told by euro tunnel staff it was a sliding roof that came adrift ripped the curtain and spilled a some of the load on to the carraige maybey he got it wrong. i understood thay kept the bulkers on the enclosed trains due to the ladders

i’ve used it a few times and hated everything about it.
i always use the boat nowadays. i never want to go on the train again.
they really know how to make someone feel like a second class citizen.

I have always hated using it, and very rarely have i not encountered some delay always seeing trains that are running half empty , It may have a journey time of 45-50mins but add 1-2 hrs wait in the lanes and the dover -calais ferry can be quicker, But the food on the train is (zb) i wouldn’t give it the dog, The ferry was much better, better edible food(P&O) Free showers, you can stretch your legs, watch tv even have a beer (if your going to be parking up for the night once you land, I can remember the days of the dover truckstop next to dover port, it came in very handy

There is no food Tommy, or coffee, or tables or anything, well not that you can drink anyway. All finished

Well they won’t be missed  does this mean a reduction in price for travel to operators ? as no tables/food ect then maybe moredrivers /vehicles per train ?

shade:
yep , not even tables , just an emergency evacuation notice where there was once one .

watch tv even have a beer (if your going to be parking up for the night once you land,

I know I’ll get moaned at for saying , but why would anyone want to drink any kind of alcohol before having to drive a truck off a ferry ■■

Note i said you can even have a beer in moderation (if your going to be driving a few hundred yards outside the ferry terminal ) into the truck stop, that isn’t i used to or did that, even if i did do as long as i was not over the the uk drink drive limit who cares anyway,? a pint or 2 on the boat won’t do that , @av of 4% acl vol, unless it was a pint or 2 of whisky or other spirit ect

 seems like i sparked a good one there>> thanks for the link just read read what was going on… :imp: :imp:

Stopped using it food to expensive at terminal, way to long to check in and get on, no communication when things go bad. I liked the welcome break greasy cafe they had. Now a bending machine. I use dfds get to pick Calais or Dunkirk so thats a ferry every hour and there is a shower cheap food free coffee a proper break. Had enough complaining to euro tunnel they don’t seem to care.
